I actually saw this printer as well as the B9Creator (
http://b9creator.com/) this weekend. Both have been successful on Kickstarter.
The B9Creator is using a novel (patented by Mike from B9Creator) system to prevent the resin from sticking to the vat during prints. It uses an LCD projector to cure a whole layer of resin at a time. At the time I talked with him (yesterday) he plans to license his machine in a format that allows for use and modification, but does not allow anyone to commercially clone and/or use his technique without licensing it.
The Form 1 machine is using a currently patented by others tilt mechanism, it remains to be seen if they're legal licensees of this technology or if they aren't aware (or ignoring) the potential infringement. They're using a blue ray laser to cure the resin in a vector approach, this technically gives them a faster print speed because they can put much more light (curing potential) down in a pinpoint area faster than printing a whole (dim) layer at once.
