My mightily esteemed listmates,

Has anyone delved into hw safe any of the PLA is for fish, turtles in
a fish tank?

Is thee any rating system?

Have you ground any manufacturer who will answer that safety question?

Thank you,

Charles.

PLA polymer should be OK with aquarium organisms and has a pretty good track record even with corals and other marine invertebrates as more sensitive groups of organisms.

This is not to say however that there would not be potential issues with plasticizers, pigments, fillers or other possible additives in PLA filament.

PLA 3D prints can become brittle with prolonged exposure to water, especially saltwater. Better durability may be achieved with ABS or PETG prints.
