The project is non-union; the rate is $200 an hour, with a two-hour minimum. I know for some of you, the rate and/or union status make this an automatic no-go, but I didn’t want to assume I remembered everybody’s individual stance. That said, of the 30 characters, all but a few only have two or three lines; even taking into account whatever doubling/tripling up we can do in the casting, this’ll be quick, easy money. The three remaining characters have about 70 lines each, but since they’re all dry, it’ll still be quick and easy.
The biggest challenge on this project is going to be getting it all recorded in time for the software’s August 1st release date. It’s looking as though the week of July 18th (yeah, Comic-Con—I know) might be our main recording window, but let me know your availability from 7/13 through 7/29, just to be on the safe side. If the client wants you, we’ll make it work.
DON'T forget to send along your signed/scanned NDA if you decide to audition.
Go ahead and audition for as many characters as you’d like—with how tiny the roles are, I know the client is eager to get two or three voices out of an actor for their $400, whenever possible. That said, do me a favor if you would and go with the following file-naming convention, so I don’t drown in mystery tracks:
CharacterName_ActorName.MP3
Take a few stabs at the lines, since there are only a few—maybe one straight/dry read, one mid-range read, and one where you swing for the fences with the character type? No need to divvy them into separate files, though.
If you audition for Thomas Kline, Chris Banks or Electra Star (the three producer characters), go ahead and read the scouting report in their bio as part of your audition track, as well—as though the character found it lying around and is reading it aloud, with all the editorializing/bemusement/pride/etc. that might entail. Those are the three characters who have about 70 lines apiece, so I’d like the client to have a little more in-character chatter to consider when they’re casting them.
I can’t wait to hear your auditions—thanks in advance!
