Respected Seniors and Dear colleagues of IAOMFP,
At the risk of making a fool of myself, I am placing two querries here as I am facing a big problem in my institute with respect to paper publications.
1) Can the same case report published in one specialty journal be published in another specialty journal? In my instance, I have a case report of central odontogenic fibroma which the Oral Surgey people have already published in their journal WITHOUT ACKNOWLEDGING my dept. Now can I present the same report in our journal, limiting myself obviously to histopathological aspects?
2. Can I contest the claims of Oral surgeons by complaining to the journal in which it was published?
3. If there are more than one controbutors for a publication, is the credit shared equally by all of them or does the principal credit go to the first author only?

Dear Sundeep,

When you publish any article in a peer reviewed journal you have to sign a copyright statement to the effect that it has not be published/submitted/is being considered for publication elsewhere.

With respect to acknowledgment it is a question of "ethics" and it should be discussed/dealt with at the institution level-ideally
