This is the place to post suggestions and recommendations for how we
develop and run Hobo Island. That could include what e need to talk
about in meetings, what we need to get done, who is doing it, and so
forth.

Suggestion:
An inworld cycling media display which alternately displays the
topics within these and other relevant pages.

....which would be difficult.. i just realised... because the group is
listed as mature, so links to topics dont pass straight through, and
are instead stopped at the mature group disclaimer page.
Oh well... maybe a PG section where events and stuff in progress is
displayed in a more organized and less conversational way.

I can put content like that on my website. We could use web-on-prim
and a cycling script to show current status. but someone would have to
select the content. I am not sure we want to go to tht trouble now --
we can a websender that chats out the url to the entry page. Click on
that and you open the inworld browser, then do what you please.

I feel prior to all the fancy stuff we need to focus on the community aspect. The sofas work well for meetings but the location sucks in my view, they need to be intergrated with the mess which is currently the campsite, so that people can wander about as they would in a real trailer park. We also need more greenery amongst the junk, easier on the eye than brick and concrete everywhere.

Hobo Cast Away Report-July 27th,08 -- semt by OZ

I'm here with the Hobo news and updates. I've got quite a package for
yah tonight.

-First off, every Saturday at 4 pm SLT all are welcomed to an Optional
meeting on Hobo Island.􀀀 Just go to the green dots ;) We'll discuss
any concerns, suggestions, opinions abut the Island's construction and
the community.

-I've knighted Noiz Noyes and Quenya Noel to work on the events area.
Greg seems as though he's been a bit preoccupied, but I'd really like
to see some more growth so I'm gonna let these two eager builders have
a go at it.

-After much talk from the Think Tank, I've gotten my hands on one of
those Holodeck dohickies. I'm gonna use it to change the events area
into different areas as previously planned.

-I'm also using one of them to rez different Texture Palettes in the
sandbox. I've only got one up, but it's a palette that lets people
pick off just one texture they like. Great for newbies that don't
want to be confused with Texture Bundles, but those will still be
available too. Punky is working on more texture palettes for my
holodeck rezzor.

-For members of the Sandbox Hobox group, (Group for hobos in the
sandbox to avoid the 6 hour auto return, the group is also meant only
for people that build ALOT or time consuming builds) there will be
Hobo Flags available soon that you can place next to your build to
avoid getting any accidentaly returns from moderators of the sandbox.
The flag will simply mean, "Hey, I'm working on this.. Plz don't
return.) The sandbox moderators are people I trust to return griefer
spam and clean up after any Sandbox Hobox members that leave their
dirty laundry out. They're also expected to notify the person as to
why their object is being returned.

-Since lots of hobos do enjoy extraciricular activities outside of the
group such as clubs and dancing, I figured it wouldn't hurt to make
that entertainment more accessible on their home turf. Leslie Trihey
is working on a dance club up in the sky above the events area at 500
meters. She needs help with textures for furniture and lighting if
anyone is intrested. This is an area that will be easy to change the
music stream for whatever your taste fancies.

-I've got several of the Pikey builds haphazardly placed from the
contest underneath the bridge. We'll be trying to build up that area
to make it more homely like the attraction was in Calleta with a
campfire and seating. That area needs to really be built up as the
main heart of the Island where people will be comfortable to hang out
and socialize.

*Extra Special*
-Also from what was gathered at the meeting yesterday, we'll be
looking for Nominees for a Hobo Council. The council will be to
encourage the growth of the community we have all formed here in
Second Life. We'll have council spots such as Events (for event
planing such as live musicians, dj's, special holidays, ect). We'll
have a spot for Sandbox operations (mainly people that want to take
the time to teach people how to build or be in contact with teachers
of the craft). The other spot on the council will be for council
(Some hobos want someone to talk to if there's "drama" or disputes
within the group to try to come to a peaceful solution without getting
the whole group involved) This is my personal opinion that I think
it's silly and we could probably come up with a better position than
that.
So we'll be looking for 3 council members for each slot: Events,
Sandbox, Mediator.
Just run it through your head how you would like to nominate someone
you think would fit the position. We're currently figuring out a
voting system so for now just think on it.Hobo Cast Away Report-July
