Thanks for picking up on this, Kathleen! I think these questions

I think we should focus on the helplines aspect, which is where we'll
tap in (http://www.saferinternet.org/web/guest/about-us#helplines):
National helplines respond to the questions and concerns of young
people linked to their experiences online or the harmful or illegal
online content they encounter.
insafe is certainly more open and innovative toward the web compared
to other helpline networks (ChildLine etc.) since they *are* about the
web.

Maybe I'm being slight naive, but I don't expect there would be great
(if any) cost associated with engaging stakeholders and building
relationships.
Who has connections to the six grantees of PHF?
* Coram Childrens Legal Centre
* Coventry Law Centre
* Islington Law
* Praxis Community Projects
* Refugee and Migrant Centre
* The Children?s Society -> Alice, but she's not on the team anymore
Incidentally I've built up connections to twilio on a hackday last
weekend and will try to get them to sponsor the SecondFriend SMS
gateway (which we've btw. implemented last weekend, just need to plug
it into the SecondFriend backend). I also have connections to Google
and will try to leverage those to get sponsorship for hosting on the
AppEngine.

I think Maslaha looks very topical and suitable. If you have a good
contact there it'd be great if you could get in touch and explore.
Presumably insafe would certainly be an option, but they might not be
too keen on that given that insafe don't have a particular migrant
focus (and they didn't even know the organisation). The person I would
approach there is Karl Hopwood, a trustee and recognized esafety
expert, who also runs a consultancy in the area (http://esafetyltd.info/).

I think we can keep cost for these very low by leveraging existing
connections and possibly even get further sponsorship early on.
Incidentally I have very good connections to Mozilla London who have a
terrific meeting/conference space that is free of charge to use.

We've updated the shared Google Doc with the answers to your follow-up
questions (the last section). I'm copying them in here for convenience:
1) Can you give us some details on what the "insafe European
helplines" is?
Insafe is a European network of Awareness Centres promoting safe,
responsible use of the Internet and mobile devices to young people. It
National helplines respond to the questions and concerns of young
people linked to their experiences online or the harmful or illegal
online content they encounter.
A person in need can access SecondFriend via one of currently three
(more to be added) communication channels 1) browser extension, 2)
(mobile) web page or 3) SMS, which initiates a conversation with a
trained consultant of one of our partner organisation. Based on the
optionally-selected help category and location chosen by the user and
the current availability of consultants, the request is automatically
and transparently routed to the most suitable consultant. No personal
data is required or collected other than an optional nickname.
Technical measures ensure the user is able to securely erase the
conversation not only from their local device but also from the
backend accessible to the consultant if she wishes.

3) Can you provide more detail on which organisations and stakeholders
you envisage working with? How will the costs be covered to engage
these stakeholders / build relationships?
Technical organisations:

* Google (sponsorship of the hosting platform)
* Twilio (sponsorship of the SMS gateway)
* Orange/Vodafone/O2 (pre-installation of SecondFriend on handsets)
* insafe (evaluation/field testing of the initial prototype)
We don’t expect major (if any) costs from engaging these stakeholders
as we already have contact persons we can approach and work with.
Migrant/youth-focused organisations:
* Coram Childrens Legal Centre
* Coventry Law Centre
* Islington Law
* Praxis Community Projects
* Refugee and Migrant Centre
We begin engaging with migrant/youth-focused organisations, by
following up with current grantees of PHF and participating
organisations of the Undoc Camp. This will be to share our idea and
gather further insight into current provision and needs. We anticipate
that costs for this stage will be limited to minimal travel and
expenses for any meetings taking place outside of London (although
effort will be made to use Skype where possible).
4) Can you tell us how you think you will allocate the £2500 and
whether you have an organisation that's willing to host the funding?
Over August, we have been identifying and establishing contact with
potential fund hosting organisations . This week we will be speaking
with Maslaha - an organisation seeking to empower disadvantaged
communities to overcome social inequalities through education and
inspiration - to explore the potential to host funding or gain
introductions with other willing organisations in the field. Through
this, we are confident that we gain confirmation to host funds from a
relevant organisation by month’s end.
We envision the grant will mostly be spent on further development
efforts and a small portion will be reserved for travel/expenses.
5) What do you envisage the costs of the workshops and focus groups to
be, and how do you plan to cover these?
We intend to hold the workshops and focus groups directly with the
partner organisations we plan to work with for the initial prototyping
and evaluation. This way we hope to keep the costs low such that they
could be covered by the partner organisations and at the same time
make the workshops very topical and relevant.
