Subject: Starting Instruction based on STEP


Good afternoon RCMMES Family-



Thank you to everyone who got their STEP Tracker in on time and for
those of you who were brave and bold to clarify any confusion you had.
This is brand new for us here at Churchwell, so of course there are
going to be lots of questions! I am more than happy to help make
sense of it all.



Now that I have the data specifics, I am compiling everything and
analyzing. I have been busy looking at your grade as a whole, your
individual classes, and each of your students. On Monday, you will
receive the three instructional groups (for comprehension and guided
reading) that I am suggesting to use in your class based on STEP data.
I will give you a breakdown of the students in your class by the
highest STEP they have each achieved and the STEP at which they should
receive instruction. (This could be more than just the next STEP when
taking into account those who missed a STEP due to spelling.)



Please feel free to make time to discuss how I grouped your students.
I would love to meet with each classroom teacher at some point next
week to go over some of the instructional goals within your own
classroom, student needs, and setting up your data walls in your
classroom. Let me know by email when that would work for you!



Again, you are all wonderful teachers with a great commitment to
helping our students meet their potential. I am excited to see
instruction begin with goals in mind. I will be out of the building
tomorrow, but have a wonderful weekend and do not hesitate to call or
email me for any questions.
