It'll still be some time before we see Company of Heroes 3 in its completed form, but today marks a major milestone in the game's development. Relic's latest entry into the storied franchise brings players to Sicily with a free, open-access multiplayer pre-alpha test today starting at 9 AM PST.
In fact, there's a lot of the game still in development. The point of this early-alpha test is to solicit feedback on unit balance and completed game features, so there's a very limited selection of game modes, maps, and factions to choose from. There will be only four maps (one 1v1 and three 2v2 maps), only two game modes (Victory and Annihilation), and only custom games and automatch games will be available to play (there are no tutorial or campaign missions available yet). Relic also admits there's a lot of things yet to be finished, from more maps, units, animations, and even some UI elements.
To provide feedback, there's a survey in the main menu of the Company of Heroes 3 pre-alpha download, which is available on Steam if you've already signed up when the game was revealed in July. If not, you can head on over to the Company of Heroes website, create an account, and then link it with your Steam account to gain access. Relic is also taking feedback on the Company of Heroes Discord channel.
As I explained earlier, E&P has a natural limit for spending. This limit is reached (for most people) when you have a decent damage stack in each color and more or less competitive teams for all kind of events. Theres always a group of collectors who want to own everything but even the super competitive top 0,1 % will stop spending at a certain point. This point is reached when they own the strongest heroes. However, as a game your core interest is to keep the whales spending. So how to reach that goal? Option 1 is to constantly release stronger heroes. Thats they path they took in the past months. Obvious disadvantage: You create a loop of powercreep and you can only generate short term effects. Within hours the guys from the Top alliances had the fully emblemed and limit broken new heroes in their Defs. So basically you gave them a reason to spend for a few hours and then you went back to square 1. Its like throwing a paper towel into a fire. You can repeat this pattern by releasing the next OP hero but you are slowly killing the game with it. Still, you need to offer the guys at the top something to spend for. And I think at this point alpha aethers could actually become useful. Alpha Aethers create a sustainable reason to spend for the top 1% while having considerably less impact on the overall meta (compared to the constant release of OP heroes). As pointed out in another thread it even creates the chance to increase the value of 3* and 4* monsters.
This is predatory bussiness and we know it,Zynga knows it and now they make it even worse with AA. You playing on higher spectrum will be forced to war against 5 second broken heroes soon and unless you spend like crazy getting the 30 heroes required will not happen before the next bump.
Edit: o and do not get me started on costumes for balance. I pulled a 5 star but instead of buffing it here is a costume you have 1% to pull again and dont worry here is a second costume because pulling the costome once was not enough. Like if you pulled hero before costume it should be included as that is effectively how they buff old heroes.
Yet this is the approach almost all big games takes. E&p has litterally stated in a recent post that they inentionally do not buff old heroes to incentivise people to buy new heroes. Please tell me that all older players are happy that money they spent are completely useless.
Recent examples while not exactly 2 weeks is matilda and m&M . They are recent even heroes released way overpowered even after beta comments to be severly nerfed from being the meta to people removing it in defences.

If you prefer medium roasts, as I do, because you get the most rounded flavor profile, then look no further. I've tried hundred of coffee brands throughout my life, and NONE have been comparable to Smooth Operator. It's smooth (as the name suggests!), full flavored and full bodied and leaves NO bitter or acidic after taste. Bravo to the Alpha company for creating such a wonderful blend! Once I found this blend, I stopped purchasing coffee from anywhere else. Nothing else compares! Drop the mic!
