Highlights of the Circular :
DPs are advised to refer our Communique no. CDSL/OPS/DP/POLCY/2025/849 dated December 26,2025 enclosing SEBI Circular no. HO/38/11/11(3)2025-MIRSD-POD/I/1101/2025 dated December 24, 2025 on Ease of Investments and Ease of Doing Business measures – Enhancing the ‘Facility for Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA)’.
The amended paragraph 2.2(b) of aforementioned SEBI Circular stipulates that DPs shall reassess the eligibility of all existing BOs for BSDA at the end of every quarter. Eligible demat accounts shall be converted into BSDA, unless the BOs specifically provide their consent through an authenticated and verifiable channel, as prescribed by the Depositories (Refer CDSL Communique CDSL/OPS/DP/POLCY/2026/179 dated March 13, 2026), to continue availing the facility of a regular demat account.
Accordingly, DPs are advised to convert all eligible existing demat accounts into BSDA within 10 working days from the end of the quarter.
The DPs are advised to refer to Communique No. CDSL/OPS/DP/POLCY/2026/209 dated March 24, 2026, regarding the implementation of system enhancements facilitating the conversion of eligible demat accounts into BSDA.
