How would you all like to move forward- site domain, email-
distribution list, etc...?

Some people set up sites and blogs overnight. Before committing to one
of them does anyone have an opinion or suggestion to offer.

I think an email list would be the place to start, with a web site to follow for the less ephemeral stuff.

Erin,

I think a blog format is a good idea, as it would allow for the easy
organization of topics that I'm imagining will have the potential to
get detailed and complex. For those of us with less domain expertise
the ability to easily browse the 'archives' of previous conversations
by topic, without having to guess at appropriate keywords as a
listserv archive might require, would be appreciated.

Some kind of push notification of new posts to a listserv might create
a good balance between the preference for keeping up to date via email
and the flexibility of organization and searching a blog would
provide.

Thanks
Sharon

I'll not so humbly suggest using what I have going already?
I have a new(ish) site and list running at http://security4lib.org/
It's Drupal powered and I have a wiki started there a well.
The email (mailman powered) list is here:
http://lists.security4lib.org/listinfo.cgi/security4lib-security4lib.org

I set that site up a few months ago, but never had time to finish
things up, so if anyone is interested in contributing to the site or
the wiki or anything else let me know.

I've been writing and presenting on IT Security for Libraries for a
while now, you can find my writings and slides on LISNews:

I would prefer a non-googlegroup mailing list if at all possible, since I can't subscribe to googlegroups using my work email. But I will continue to use my personal account if it turns out others prefer a googlegroups list.

I agree.

Currently I'm waiting for Eric Lease Morgan to return on Monday to
connect with him about options.

I think Blake has an excellent suggestion - why reinvent the wheel?

I spoke with Eric Lease Morgan earlier this morning about having
SEC4LIB through him with all the other *4LIB listservs. This afternoon
I spoke with Blake Carver. Blake and I are on board for moving the
SEC4LIB listserv over to nd.edu and keeping the website on Blakes
hosting service.

Thoughts?

Seems reasonable though Google Groups works pretty well. In some ways
better than a standard listserv.
