I'm very pleased to have completed the restoration of my H-8 - could not have done this without the help of many SEBHC members.  Like many, I built my H-8 in 1978 - did some programming over a few years until the PC clones came along.  Decided last Spring that I needed a fun hobby and pulled out the H-8 (the H-19 is a recent addition thanks to a new friend).  Started on a few basic repairs (new caps, etc) and discovered this great group of Heathkit computer experts as I needed assistance.  Then I learned that I needed to make some upgrades if I wanted to go any further.  I've built the 64K Ram org0 memory board, the Dual CF Storage Controller, and most recently a new backplane board because nothing was working due to corrosion on the old backplane pins.  Really enjoyed the builds - takes me back to the good days of Heathkit.  All of these boards were developed by Norberto Collado and colleagues - exquisite design engineering.  It was quite a rush when I booted HDOS yesterday.   Now I'll start learning about HDOS.  I never got any further than the tape system back in the early days.  Much to learn!
Many thanks to SEBHC members Glenn, Norberto, Tim, Joe and others for your guidance and patience.  This society is a fantastic resource made up of some really great people.

Beautiful!  Love to see another old system brought back to life!

(p.s. Mike and I were recently able to meet in person. Great getting to know a new member of the SEBHC club!)

Have fun!

p.s. great to see that you kept your H8 all these years. We hear from many members who sold theirs or lost them through flood or theft. Nice to have your “original” system breathing new life…

Thanks Joe.  I understand you built the CF image.  Nice.   Lots there to enjoy.  Just need to learn my way around HDOS.
