I was able to complete a build of Terry Smedley’s backlit H19 keyboard. The backlit look is very cool but the best feature is use of modern keyswitches, which are available in many styles. I chose the Gateron KS-8 keyswitches for this build because I like the clicky sound, but Durock makes a nice tactile switch (T1) that’s quieter. Though the electronics was minimal it is still a pretty involved build due to the sheer number of soldered connections and the various hardware aspects. I learned a lot about keyboard switches!
Many thanks again to Terry for all his efforts!
(since someone will probably ask: this hasn’t been “productized” yet for group purchase but if someone wanted to step forward and lead that effort I suspect there would be parties interested in building these…)

Hi Glenn,
I'm certainly willing to order and stock boards for this and possibly keyswitches and keytops if there's any benefit in a bulk order.
If you and/or Terry can provide board files and keyswitch and keytop info I can take a look.
Thanks,
Todd

Terry can provide the board files. There might be value in bulk ordering keycaps, but they're not cheap - over $100 per set
I don't see value in ordering switches as they're readily available. I'll get back to you...

I am slowly pulling together Terry’s materials to create a Github repository, to be located here:
https://github.com/sebhc/H19-Keyboard
To my knowledge the only one actively building this out at the moment is Darrell, and I’ve been working with him. As others get involved I’ll up my game at putting the necessary materials into the github space. (let me know if any of you start to build this out).
I’ve pulled together some photos of my own work to build several of these keyboards:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/VUu1QGz6dxwPsDfq6
for those of you unfamiliar with this effort: it is a drop-in replacement for the H19/H89 keyboard that uses modern cherry style key switches, which may be backlit. It also implements auto-repeat
