Amazing. If this had appeared in 1980 you would think you’d died and gone to heaven!
I presume DIP format Z80 chips are still widely available?
Will this function as a single board computer via the wall adapter? Great work.

Will this function as a single board computer via the wall adapter? Yes it will. Also, you can put it onto a small chassis to use as a standalone system.
I presume DIP format Z80 chips are still widely available? Yes! I can find them in eBay. Let me know if I need still need to change it to a PLC44 Z80 instead…

Hello Scott,
Yes it is very expensive. To keep it low, I can order only 5-pcs of the board. 10-pcs will bring the price around $200+.
Here is the breakdown for 5-pcs:

$200 per board, or $200 for 5 boards?
I’d love to get 2 of these, but I’m not in a hurry. I bet we see these tariffs come down in another few months.

It is a fantastic product for my Heathkit H89 and H88 models. However, I am genuinely concerned about the dramatic surge in board manufacturing costs. The prices of components have skyrocketed, making them increasingly unaffordable. I hope that until there’s a shift in economic policy, perhaps with the involvement of Trump and his administration alongside Republicans and MAGA supporters, we may not see a return to more reasonable pricing.

Finally the new improved H89A baseboard labeled “NC Super89” is fully up and running and even the I2C OLED display with a new Splash Screen. Attached are some pictures.
It is booting, Heath HDOS 2.0, HDOS 3.0, Heath CP/M, MMS CPM3+, and MP/M as well due to its 512KB RAM capacity..
The only remaining development is the SPI bus to drive the WizNet network and 2x SD cards.
Thanks to all that helped get the board up and running. It has been truly teams work. 😊
Best Regards,
Norberto

To support Norberto's NC Super89 Baseboard, I worked up a replica design of the H89 PCB top bracket. I suspect there won't be much demand for this, as I'd imagine that in most cases there will be an OEM bracket available from whatever PCB is being upgraded/replaced. But in case there's a need, the attached .zip contains design files in three formats: SolidWorks eDrawings (.easm), STEP, and Protocase Designer (.pda). The bracket was fabricated by Protocase (Canada). As of this moment, shipments from Canada are still tariff-free if under the $800 de-minimus valuation. As recent history has amply shown, that tariff waiver is subject to frequent and unexpected change.
The plastic mounts at each end of the bracket are Essentra SEI-1, available from the usual stocking distributors (Mouser, Digikey, etc).
Photographs show adjacent replica (bottom) and OEM brackets (top), and the replica bracket on a H89 CPU PCB ounted into the H89 cabinet. Sharp eyes will note that the photograph does not show an H89 cabinet - it's a Z19-CN with the H89 CPU board stuffed into it for a fit check.

Terry,
I modified your step file to add a boss on the four top mount points in order to use brass inserts. I'm considering adding them to the PCB mounting holes so you don't need nuts. The picture is a 3D printed bracket and mounting nut.
