Dear friends who appreciate yoga,
I hope you all are having a great new year so far!! 2014 - we made it!
As you may have seen from my last email to this list, there was a fire at the Yoga Loft, and in the whole building, a couple of weeks ago. No one was injured, as it was at 4am. However, as you can imagine, it will be awhile before the studio is repaired. They are thinking 3-6 months. Attached is a sad picture of Studio B! They thought we could have classes in Studio A, but since the walls are being torn out, it isn't safe to take deep breaths in there, as we would do in a yoga class.
So, there will be some time.
I have been meaning to do more blogging about yoga, and so am hoping to do more of that in this time off from teaching. Keep an eye out, please.
http://seaweedswayyoga.blogspot.com I also am going to look into subbing and assisting more, as a way to stay in teaching mode and connect with folks thru yoga. I will keep you posted on those goings ons.
Other teachers I recommend are Britt Fohrman, at the Yoga Tree. She has a couple of gentle classes, Tues & Thurs, I think at the Valencia Studio. She also teaches regular Restorative workshops, that I sometimes assist. And she teaches prenatal classes.
Other favorite gentle/restorative teachers are Kristie Dahlia Home, Kate Truka (teaches at Bernal), & Rachel Lanzerotti.
Additionally, if you are looking for a different kind of movement or awareness, I've been really enjoying Augusta Moore's Feldenkrais class. It's on Tuesdays 10:30-12 and Saturdays (I think at the time the gentle class was!). I also go to fusion rhythms dance classes there, if you're looking to have a fun time moving and get your sweat on. I often go to the 10am or noon classes and would love company!!

This could also be a great time to develop your home practice, with yoga and meditation! I've been doing a 21 day meditation "challenge" with Oprah & Deepak Choprah, found here: https://chopracentermeditation.com/
If you have any questions about yoga, the studio, or my recommendations for teachers, please do let me know. Hope to see you all here and there, in the meantime.
Thank you and happy new year!
