Hi there!
Hope you're all doing well.

As many of you know, I'm super-excited to start teaching kids yoga for 2-3 year olds. It's been a dream of mine to do this, so it's thrilling and scary for it to be really happening. The 5 week series starts this Thursday. We have enough kids to make it a class, and to ensure the classes continue, I'd like to get a few more kids signed up if possible. So I'm asking for your help with spreading the word!

If you know of any parents with 2-3 year olds, please forward this email to them. and/or if you're on fb, posting this link is helpful too: http://rockbandland.org/yoga

THANK YOU. -Jessie

KIDS YOGA at ROCK BAND LAND - info for interested parents and caregivers

I'm really excited to share kids yoga at one of the most magical places in SF, Rock Band Land.

Class is on Thursdays for the next five weeks (Sept. 24-Oct. 22nd):
12:30-1:15 at Rock Band Land Headquarters: 3075 17th Street @ Folsom
The whole 5 weeks is only $75, or a drop-in class is $20.

Parents and caregivers are welcome, especially for children who are not yet fully potty trained. We just ask you to bring an open mind and playful spirit!
It can help the kids participate and have fun if they see a trusted grown-up having fun as well. Don't worry! You don't have to do anything you don't want to do, and I encourage kids and grown-ups to take a gentle approach and be safe at all times.
If you'd rather not join, you're also welcome to drop your child off and go run errands during this time as well.

What to let me know in advance:

Does your child have a favorite song? Please send me a link or the title. I may be able to work it in when we play games.

Do you have any questions, or does your kid have any special needs? Feel free to email me at jessy...@gmail.com or call me at 415 515 7604 anytime.

What to bring: If you have a yoga mat, please bring it! I will bring a few to share as well, so if you don't have one, it's OK.
What to wear: It helps if your child is wearing comfy clothes that they can move in. It's a no shoes and no socks class!

What will we be doing during class??

I intend to share a fun multidimensional intro to yoga for the little ones. Warning: this will look very different from a regular adult yoga class. For kids, we play yoga! We will strengthen our imaginations, learning simple poses that remind us of animals and all things found in nature (real and newly created). We'll play some age-appropriate non-competitive yoga games. We'll sing silly & semi-serious songs that help us learn concepts of yoga in a more accessible way. We will also go on great yoga adventures — via boat, airplane, magic carpet, bus --- becoming and seeing animals, food items (if we get hungry while adventuring), clouds, dragons, superheroes — you name it. We’ll bring the poses to life, as only kids can do - barking in downward dog, hissing in cobra pose, and buzzing like a bumblebee. If the class is feeling it, we’ll even become a mysterious magical never-before-seen creature. Class is interspersed with fun breathing exercises that help to strengthen coordination and build body awareness, and we end with a bit of relaxation.

Class is 45 minutes. We change activities throughout to help support young kids' attention spans. Still, it's likely for kids, especially at this age, to "flop out" on occasion, or even often, and that's OK! They can watch if they're more comfortable with that, and join back in when they're ready. If you're attending with your child, please don't tell them they *have to* participate. If they see you having fun, being silly, and playing yoga, chances are they'll eventually be curious and want to join. If they don't, they are still being exposed to the poses and ideas of yoga, and may want to join in next time.

My background as a yoga teacher: I've been teaching yoga in San Francisco since 2006. My mother was my first yoga teacher when I was about 10, and that early experience is one of my main inspirations for teaching kids yoga. I've completed a variety of teacher trainings at the Yoga Loft, including Karma Kids Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. I've also trained to become a restorative yoga teacher with Judith Hanson Lasater, and I regularly assist Britt Fohrman at Yoga Tree with gentle, restorative, and prenatal yoga workshops. I enjoy sharing yoga with those across the age and ability spectrum, so that all can experience yoga’s profound invigorating and relaxing benefits.

Thanks so much for giving your child the gift of yoga at a young age.

If you have any friends with 2 and 3 year olds that might be interested, we'd love it if you spread the word, as this is a brand new class at Rock Band Land.

Thanks!
