Hi everyone!

It's been a beautiful and busy week with two shows recently passed. 
THANK YOU to all who made it out Wednesday night!!! (Videos soon.)

Tomorrow night - I dare you to leave your home on a Monday - for good reason.

Seaweed Sway Presents: Lindsay Clark (Portland dream-folk), Sunshine (Brooklyn dream-pop), & Wicked Winds (SF psych-folk! You know 'em!).

They become $15 at 12:01am. If you see this tomorrow/Monday-- I recommend going & paying that extra $5 to support the show!

PS! It's Bay Area Dance Week- there's lots of free dance classes in SF. I am in not one but two flashmobs! Dirty Dancing one Wednesday at Crystal's ATA Window Display Reception (Queering the Classics) 7pm + Friday at City Hall with ODC's One Dance, 12pm (bring your phone and headphones if you wanna participate in the silent disco portion at the beginning.) Lmk if you want to learn the dances.

at Brick & Mortar Music Hall

Brian's bio: Brian Belknap is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter in the mold of Lucinda Williams and Townes Van Zandt. His music— a rough blend of broke-down folk, junk-country blues, and gut-bucket gospel, rendered on accordion, slide guitar, and mandolin—is a product of the rich cultures of San Francisco and New Orleans, the two cities he calls home. Belknap’s latest offering, In Lieu of Flowers, once again finds him in the capable hands of producer Mike Coykendall (M. Ward, She & Him, Bright Eyes, Blitzen Trapper). The record is about coping with loss (both personal and collective), and finding redemption in a world in its own time of reckoning. Never one to shy away from darkness, his own or other people’s, Belknap’s songs not only tell stories, but are able to convey a level of subtlety, nuance, and compassion that is the province of someone who has been down a long and difficult road and has lived to tell the tale.

& now for something different...
Movement Explorers Study Group:
​We are meeting at Alonzo King Lines Ballet (on 7th near Market/Mission & Civic Center BART) - confirmed for Friday May 4th, from 7:30-9pm, to explore movement inspired by the Axis Syllabus, with ideas from Feldenkrais, Body Mind Centering, & yoga. Our focus for this next meet-up will be knees!

No experience necessary. Curious movers welcome. Get in touch if you'd like to be notified of future meet-ups. The general format: 1) free time for warming up, 2) gather to discuss focus of the day, examining anatomy books for relevant info 3) partner work re-sensitizing the zone where we are focusing 4) practice dancing/walking/moving with the awareness gained 5) potentially practice choreography using principles & awareness from prior work. Suggested donation $10-15.
