Hi everyone,

I hope you all are holding up. I know many of you have been engaged in this urgent ongoing fight for racial justice and police reform, and some of you are living it. THANK YOU for your work and efforts.

I'm sharing a quick fun action idea for the music realm specifically (to do on FRI ideally, tho keep doing after).

There's a quick SF specific action as well, to oppose London Breed's police commissioner appointments (due by Monday, takes 1-2 mins).

---------------------
Bandcamp Day is TODAY, Friday June 5th, where they give 100% of proceeds to artists.

Please buy music from black musicians!

Please RSVP here to spread the word:
(then share & invite friends!)

Here's a crowd-sourced list of local & beyond black musicians on bandcamp:
Please add more!

There is also a tab for black-run small businesses (including in Mpls where many POC businesses were damaged by fires) + racial justice nonprofits for donations & support.
-----------------------

SF FRIENDS, QUICK ACTION, PLZ DO ASAP BY MONDAY:
Please take action to oppose the appointments of Nancy Tung and Geoffrey Gordon Creed to the Police Commission. Tung and Gordon-Creed go before the full Board of Supervisors for a final vote on Tuesday, June 9th. We need to send more emails and make more calls, to make sure these unqualified nominees aren’t installed in these important positions. Email the supervisors here: bit.ly/notmypc2
------------------------

If you want ideas on how to get plugged in more right now, please check in anytime. AND if you have ideas or actions you want support with, I would love to hear!

There is a big coordinated effort to defund the police in SF coming up too, so keep an eye out.

Thanks and Love,
Jessie

Hi everyone,
A quick note to say hello, and...

Bandcamp is donating their proceeds to NAACP Legal Defense Fund TODAY, Juneteenth.

And they are giving all proceeds to artists on Friday July 3rd, Bandcamp Day.

Here's a crowd-sourced list of Black musicians on bandcamp, local & beyond:

There is also a tab for Black-run small businesses (including in Mpls where many POC-run businesses were damaged by fires) + racial justice nonprofits for donations & support.

Please RSVP here, invite friends, & share to spread the word for today & Fri July 3rd:
(then share & invite friends!)

Bandcamp's Statement w/ NAACP Legal Defense Fund Info:
“...This coming Juneteenth (June 19, from midnight to midnight PDT) and every Juneteenth hereafter, for any purchase you make on Bandcamp, we will be donating 100% of our share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a national organization that has a long history of effectively enacting racial justice and change through litigation, advocacy, and public education.”

It's a smallish action but can add up to provide support.

Also, in general, if yohave ideas or actions you want support with, and/or want ideas on how to get plugged in more right now, please check in anytime.

There is a big coordinated effort to defund the police in SF coming up too, so keep an eye out. If you are attending any protests by City Hall especially, please let me know, as I am trying to get to as many as possible.

Thanks and Love,
Jessie

Hi everyone,
I hope you all are hanging in there. I welcome your updates!

I'm humbly sharing my voting recommendations...
mostly from The Kate Slate, with a few edits, indicated:

This time in Google Doc form, just in case there are any further edits.

There are instructions about where/how to vote and all that, from Kate.
Most of the info is from Kate's voting guide, which is well-researched, and she explains where she is coming from, so you can decide if you agree or disagree.

"The Slate Party is a big informer of the Kate Slate, as are voter guides provided by the League of Pissed Off Voters (impeccably researched but too late this year to be of much assistance for the Kate Slate), SPUR (easy to read and to disagree), San Francisco’s legendary drag mother Juanita Moore (succinct), San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (helpful, yet appropriately biased), social media, and (virtual) coffee break chatter."

If you want to get in on that discussion in the future, let me know. It's a great way to learn about the issues, figure out where you may stand on them, and contribute to the conversation if you've done some research.

Thanks, and Happy Voting!
Feel free to forward this email.
