Hi everyone!
It's been awhile... I'm taking a break from official Seaweed Sway promoting to try and get organized (a neverending quest!) and finish up other projects that have been on hold.

Meanwhile, things are still going strong with Conspiracy of Venus, and we have two very different shows coming up.

This Sunday 3/31, we sing at the Rite Spot, chamber chorus style. We'll be doing lots of octets and quartets, plus a few full group songs! It's been really fun to explore the songs this way, and we're testing them out at one of our favorite venues. 6pm doors, 7-9pm show. +++MY MOM WILL BE THERE! & it's free/donation/pass-the-hat, depending where you're at financially.

ALSO! Speaking of finances, that same day -Sunday 3/31- is the last day to buy $15 earlybird tickets for our June 2nd show at the SF International Arts Festival. http://bit.ly/CoVjune2 is the link. The show is at 2pm! 2pm on June 2nd! We'll be showcasing our Brecht pieces there, i.e. songs for the revolution. They're a bit too timely, even though they were written in another era (WWII times). https://www.facebook.com/events/559424757902763

We don't have other shows scheduled at this time, so I'd love to see you at one of these! Below is the lowdown for June 2nd.
XO
Jessie

Conspiracy of Venus presents The 6th Extinction? Songs of Lament and Celebration.

Featuring Joyce Todd McBride's settings of Brecht, and arrangements of songs by Joni Mitchell, the Pixies, and others, performed by Conspiracy of Venus choral ensemble.

The 6th Extinction is the title of two important books, the first by Richard Leakey and Roger Lewin (1996), and the second by Elizabeth Kolbert (2015).  Our performance will be a collage of readings by seminal authors and poets on the subject of climate change, evolutionary biology, and politics, woven through a selection of songs that resonate sympathetically.
