can I ask an arrival time question?  we will be leaving Vancouver BC the morning of Friday August 28th...what time do you suggest hitting the gate Sunday or early Monday (we don't care how ungodly) for an optimal line up time?

many thanks

I'm pretty sure I filled all these out.  Any idea of the freight costs (yurt, bins and bikes)?

Thank you,

personally i've never arrived later than sunday  evening. (I think...)

last year gates opened at 1000 sunday morning. my suggestion would be to aim to hit gate road at that time. if you're too early you could get put in limbo.

I'm not sure when I told you I was arriving, but I can now show up on Sunday morning. So if there's stuff to do I can help (after I set up my yurt).
One swamp cooler done, two to go! Hoping my yurt can be a camp refuge!

Thanks for the responses people. Apparently the prospect of only PB&J and SPAM scared some of you. I'm still going through the responses while also pretending to work. BTW, I want to go to the Polegasm dinner!! Mostly because pole dancing is fun... not because I like pole dancers!

For the anti gluten types [I only saw one thank Cthulhu] if you could reach out to me so I have an idea how to feed you that would be great. This really goes for anyone with dietary restrictions, I can and have eaten everything, including durien, so I have ZERO food sensitivity.  Also, there is no penis on the menu... or other organ meats.... except the monkey brain stew my great-great-great grandmother taught the first born men in my family. Sad to say, it's after branding season, so no Rocky Mountain Oysters.  :-(

Top Meals so far
Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Thai Curry
Stir Fry
Tacos and Burritos
BBQ [aka- anything cooked on a grill???]
Indian Curry
Spaghetti
Burgers and Hot Dogs

If any of you have a recipe that really kicks ass, let me know. Otherwise Allrecipe.com to the rescue! Here are a few I found while [t]werkin'.

For all of you interested in helping cook and volunteering your spacious kitchen, that would be awesome mine is a 3 butt max kitchen and I get angsty with that many people waving knives around. For shopping and cooking I am free some Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning or afternoon, Tuesday I'm ditching my my Bikers Against Child Abuse club meeting [yes... it's a real thing], Thursday night. I can also escape the office for a bit during the day Th, Fr, Mon. Let me know!!!

You're Awesome Nick,

Right now I'm flexible on time & am happy to cook as much as my schedule will allow. Day, evening... Weekends are a little harder but let me know time & place.

My kitchen is huge but in Sultan. It would be an awesome all day/over night cook space. It will comfortably accomadate 8 people.  We're on 5 acres and have a stupid amount of sleep space. Plus we have all kinds of adult treats!

I've run catering & camps before so if you want my secret shopping deals (cheapest place to get the best quality) I'm happy to look at your shopping list and help you come in under budget. It makes my panties wet to come in under budget 😉

Right now my schedule is pretty much prioritized for SeaWeed shit until we launch for the Burn. Let me fill your holes!

I just updated the food menu file. There are still a fair amount of people who haven't filled out the camper survey to let us know when y'all will be on the playa. Please jot down on the first sheet a 1 for each day you'll be on the playa, dietary restrictions, if you can help shop, prep or store food and any other notes. I tried to go through all the recipes and adjust them for Veg, Vegan, and Gluten accommodation, but I also eat everything put in front of me. Let me know if you can offer advice on an particular dishes.

The way the shopping list is set up is ALL the ingredients from ALL the days together. There is a lot of overlap [so much chicken and rice!!]. If you want to personally take on a specific recipe SUBTRACT the amounts from the total. Specifically could someone handle the pulled pork since it does not have much if any ingredient overlap.

Please call or text me if you have any questions, I usually respond immediately.

I'm delirious from looking at spreadsheets and there is a hot naked girl curled up in my bed. GOOD NIGHT!!!

Hey Nick!

I'm a champ at pulled pork & am happy to take that on.  I also have a vacuum sealer & some freezer space.

I'm leaving early for Playa so I'm need to get the food to someone else before I go.

Nick,

Just filled my Kitchen survey. I'll be falling into the vegetarian category and looking at the menu, I might feel left out on 09/02 (Pulled Pork) and Tailgate night (09/03).

I'm allergic to eggs and kind of disguise cheese. But i'm good with all other dairy products. Here are some of my recommendations and I can also help getting some of these things from Costco in bulk.

1: In my kitchen survey, I recommeded getting some of these
1.1  http://www.amazon.com/Near-East-Roasted-Couscous-5-8-Ounce/dp/B000GZY942/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1439840782&sr=8-3&keywords=cous+cous (Cous Cous Mix pack of 12) and every one of them is actually good to fill a mouth. They are easy to cook as well. Just put on stove and boiling water, heat it for 2 minutes, and ready to go. It'd be nice to have backup things like these to keep the veegatarians/vegans mouthful during dinner or lunch if they are left out.

2: Also, here's a proposal for another meal, a Vegetable Biryani. I have a huge pot in which I can cook this and it'll be great as a side-dish in most of the meals we are cooking. Leftovers can also be eaten during afternoon to give instant energy and any cooked chicken/sausage/etc can be diced and added to it seperately by any meatlovers

3: For the bbq on 9/5, Soya patties are much better than soya sausages. So I'd highly recommend procuring more patties as compared to the sausages. Also, it'd be nice to have alternates to the hamburger buns like grain bread or grain buns, which are tastier and also healthier :p

4: Also, if you don't have any volunteers to cook the dahl for 9/6, Brendan and I can volunteer to put that together.

My freezer is completely empty so I can store some meals in there.

Let me know what do you think. Here are some question for you..

1: Where and when should we be dropping this food?
2: Are couple of 1 gallon ziplocks good to hold and freeze this food?

Thanks,

Regards,
Amay

Amay,

The idea is to get a legit vacuum sealer for everything and double seal everything, freeze it, and then on playa toss the bags in boiling water. As for adjusting the meals, feel free to add the options you mentioned, but make sure to remove whatever they are replacing so we aren't over buying items that won't be eaten. Everyone should have editing power over the list. I'm trusting no one wrecks anything or at least know to Ctrl Z any changes they made.

So there are way better non-meat patties; and many people are sensitive to soy.  Costco has Don Lee Farms Veggie Patty.  They are tasty and have very healthy ingredients. I have a very strong vote for these instead of soya.

Great, yes these look perfect. As long as there are options for vegetarans, I'm good.
