Speaking of closures that impact permanent routes, the Snoqualmie Valley Trail will be closed from September 2 to October 10 from the Reinig Bridge to the North Bend Golf Course.

This affects two perms:

#3505 "Snoqualmie Valley Trail Gravel Run". The easy detour is over Meadowbrook Bridge to SE Part St. IMO this is the preferred routing anyway as it avoids those nasty stairs on the Reinig Bridge.

#3660 "A Wild Middle Forking Adventure". The south end of the Reinig Bridge is a control, so this route is effectively unridable during the closure.

I don't know why we still have 3505 go that way. The stairs are dangerous in bike shoes and worse if you have any load on your bike. I think I did it once and said never again 😊. Maybe I'm a wimp.

I'm with you.  Dragging my recumbent up and down those stairs was a nightmare. Haven't been back, even though I enjoyed the rest of the route.
I think I've heard someone mention an alternate version that doesn't cross the bridge.

Here's an alternate route that bypasses the bridge: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52349166?highlight=731-8676 This knocks about 0.3 K off the total distance, and about 2.6 K off the gravel distance.

A couple of weeks ago I rode this route as-published. It was a good reminder of why I never go that way -- those stairs are treacherous in bike cleats.

After this weekend's 600K is over I'll work with Bill Gobie & RUSA to get the official route changed. Routing over those stairs is just stupid.

I’ve done 3505 – Snoqualmie Valley Trail 38 times (not counting organized populaires).  I’ve climbed the stairs on the bridge maybe 3 times.

Note that the total amount of gravel riding is 87km (instead of 90km) if you follow this route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46830188?privacy_code=CmD44sPqg2khQRjSMjUwWHbczrmrHU6d

There are lots of nice places to stop for lunch or a snack in Snoqualmie, so I don’t usually take Mill Pond Road either, despite the sometimes amazing views of Mount Si.

If you use that route, note that the little section just after the tunnel is on private property, but it avoids the rocky hill (which is even worse than the stairs on Reinig Bridge IMO) or the stairs on the other side of the tunnel.  This is why I haven’t submitted an update to the route.

3505 Snoqualmie Valley Trail Gravel Run rerouted to avoid the Reinig bridge. 2 more km overall, 6 km less gravel. Link unchanged.

Feedback before I make changes?

This might have been a Yogy route? I could ask Crista if anyone cares.

Here's another possible reroute of 3505. In Street Views it appears to have some nice river views. It adds about 7 km on roads (one-way) vs 2 for Keith's routing. Could use it outbound for the riverside riding and Keith's for the return.
