There have been a couple of posts here and on the facebook group about "how can I get to the airport early, my flight leaves before the bus which Cascade 1200 has arranged would get me there".   I will post this on FB too.

I live here in Snohomish and occasionally journey to Seattle by public transit; I've taken one trip to the airport leaving from Everett, the bigger city 8 miles west.  Here's some research that may help (and thanks to other SIR members who had some good suggestions earlier):

From Snohomish to Everett:  by bus
Community Transit route 270 or 271; stop is at 2nd & Pine (across from the Snohomish Inn for anyone staying there, about 4 blocks from the Finish)
Leaves about every half-hour starting at 4:46, arrives at Everett Transit Center about half-hour later.
Fare: $2.25 (no change given, cash only)
Driver's option to accept passengers with luggage - potential issue

From Everett to Downtown Seattle:
by bus:
Sound Transit route 510 or 512; leaves from Everett Station bay C1, really near where the CT 270 or 271 will stop.
Both routes are essentially the same (510 is early morning, fewer stops)
https://m.soundtransit.org/schedule#29_510/29_2345/1 - all the way to 5th Avenue South & South Jackson.
510 leaves every 10 minutes until about 7:00, then every 15 minutes; scheduled time is about 1 hour 5 minutes, can take longer with traffic
Fare: $3.75 (no change given, cash only)
Driver's option to accept passengers with luggage - potential issue
5th Avenue South & South Jackson is about a block east of the "International District / Chinatown" Link Light Rail station, for the continuing journey to SeaTac Airport

by train:
"Sounder" north line; leaves from Everett Station, also near where CT 270 or 271 stops.
Departures at 5:45, 6:15, 6:45, and 7:15 only.  Trip to Seattle - King Street Station - takes about one hour, sometimes a few minutes less.
Fare: $5.00; purchase ticket at a ticket machine at the station (ask bus driver where it is - may be at the station building) (cash or credit card)
Space for luggage.  Nice view of Puget Sound / Salish Sea for much of the ride.
King Street Station is about a block and a half west of the "International District / Chinatown" Link Light Rail station, for the continuing journey to SeaTac Airport
elevator might be out of service to get from railroad platform up to street level; several flights of stairs.

From Downtown Seattle to SeaTac Airport:
"Link Light Rail" from "International District / Chinatown" Link Light Rail station
Departures every 12 minutes.  Travel time to Airport Station about one-half hour
Fare: $3.00; purchase ticket at a ticket machine at the station (cash or credit card)
Space for luggage.
Allow about 10-15 minutes to walk from the Airport Station to the Airport terminal.  Luggage carts are available for a fee.

Uber, Lift, etc. are available in the greater Snohomish - Everett area and might be possible ways to get to the Everett Station to avoid possibility of not getting onto a bus in Snohomish.

Also in Snohomish: Enterprise Car Rental; office is within 1.5 miles of the finish;  one-way rental to the airport is possible.
https://www.enterprise.com/en/car-rental/locations/us/wa/snohomish-4536.html - location closes at 5:30 pm, so you'd need to be done at the final control before then.
Unless there are 2 or more people in the car, you won't be able to use priority car-pool lanes in the Seattle area, and early-morning driving in commuting traffic is slower than transit, plus there is the vehicle dropoff, etc.

<maybe - but don't count on it - a SIR volunteer could take a few riders over to Everett to start their journey>

AND, to answer "could I get my bike shipped from the finish" (if anyone trusts others with that ...):

Some riders may be familiar with / comfortable with using "Bikeflights" or other services to ship their bike.  There is a local drop-off place (not convenient to the finish location, but nearby).  IF you had all of the paperwork completed, label filled out, etc., it would be possible for me (or someone else) to take your packaged bike there.

The local bike shop - "Bicycle Centers of Snohomish", formerly Snohomish Bicycles" - will package bikes for about $75.  I think that is using a regular cardboard bike box.  Might be less if you have a container; they used to provide a bike setup / packing service for a nearby triathalon, so seeing a bike case come in won't be too odd.  This shop is within a mile or so of the finish.  Normal business hours are 10 am - 7 pm.   1007 1st St, Snohomish, WA 98290.  Phone (360) 862-8300.  I'd suggest calling ahead

I found this site that lists a few options: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Snohomish/SeaTac

I would think sharing an Uber would be the fastest and most cost effective for those who can't wait for the charter bus. Also, the "Towncar" option shows several companies for around $100. Fitting a full size bike box may be an issue; mine is an S&S case.

Try airporter.com which delivers directly to SeaTac. See if they’ll transport bikes

Is there public parking near the finish of the Cascade 1200 in Snohomish? I would like to park my car there before the event, and bike to the start on Thursday evening or Friday morning, so that I can start the drive home to Montana the morning following the event. But searching the web I came across the following document  http://ci.snohomish.wa.us/DocumentCenter/View/1948/Ord-1865---Parking that seems to indicate (section 11.08.050 on page 7) that any street parking in Snohomish is limited to 72 hours. Is this so, or are there places I can park my car for the duration of the event?
Thanks, --Karel Stroethoff

I'm not so sure that the (Bellingham) Airporter service would work that well.  The "Marysville" stop is the nearest one to Snohomish, and it is about 10 miles north of Everett.  However, one nice thing about the Airporter would be that once you get on, no more worries until you get to the airport - no transfers to make, etc.

I answered Karel that yes, the Soccer Dome does have private parking, off-street.  I will tell the SD Owner/Manager that there might be a few folks asking to park there.  Do check in with "Pablo" if you take this approach.  As Karel found, there are good, bikeable routes from Snohomish to downtown Seattle.

I have used the Shuttle Express service in the past https://shuttleexpress.com/seattle-seatac-airport-transportation/.  I have not used it in a long time because other options are more convenient from my home, but it might be possible for some riders to schedule a private van to take them from Snohomish directly to SeaTac.  It will be much more expensive than using the organized coach but could solve the problem for riders who have booked an early flight immediately after the ride.

Shuttle Express will come pick you up at the door and drop you at the airport. Their vans are huge, and so you will have no problems fitting your bike box (used them in 2011, from and to the airport).

Thanks.

Narayan,
Thanks for mentioning them.  I knew that there was such a service - couldn't remember the name, and for whatever reason the town car, etc. services flood the search pages.
I'll contact them with a generic question and advise all.

I just talked to Shuttle Express at 1-425-981-7000

I used a hypothetical  " take 4 or 6 people with bike cases and one piece of luggage from Snohomish to SeaTac to arrive by 9:00 am "  example.

Cost, for either 4 or 6, is $219 (there's probably tax on top of that, so figure $250 in round numbers - $62.50 per person).   For just one person with a bike box - cost might be higher, and getting bike box along could be some concern.

For a 9:00 arrival at the airport, departure time would be 7:45 am for 4 or 6.  If just one person, they could pick you up, then make other stops to get other passengers; travel time would be longer.

Need to make reservations 12 hours in advance of travel.  The 4 or 6 passengers, plus bike boxes, means it would probably be a dedicated trip, no stops to pick up other passengers.

IF you make a reservation, they will ask you for your flight time and add in an amount of time to cover check-in and TSA screening.  So, if this kind of service is of interest to you, I'd say call and make reservations perhaps 15 hours ahead of flight time.

The 9 am arrival time was just a guess on my part.  If you need to get to the airport by 11, the pickup could be later.

Shuttle Express rates are a bit cheaper if you book online and a bit ahead of time...

However, they are notorious for switching vehicles. I got a Limo one time and an escalade another time when I was expecting a big van. So please do not forget to mention that you have a bike box.
