I rode out a pair of Panaracer Paselas (about 5000k) and a set of
Grand Bois Cypress (about 2100k and totally bald) and now have four
tires sitting around. Other than dropping them off at the recycling
center, does anyone have a creative use for old bike tires? I don't
think I can make a pair of sandals out of them, but I thought I'd see
what the collective wisdom of the group has for old tires.

I've seen people make belts from them.  Lop off the bead and stitch it to a fabric backing, then add your buckle of choice.

Save enough of them and you can make a messenger bag .  I've seen them made from old tubes and old tires.

Since it doesn't use up much to do, IDK that you'll need all
four...but I use road tires as chainstay guards on some of my bikes,
predominantly the MTB. Other than that, pieces of the casings make
decent bumpers anywhere you want something with a little give, but a
nicer backing. Sadly clinchers aren't quite as nice for these uses as
cut up tubies, but oh well. Tubies also make awesome file/tool covers
for things in your toolbox, to protect them and the tools around them
from each other.

Not applicable, but i can't resist sharing this on TGIF: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lshswu79XF1qlnirwo1_500.jpg

Can be used as a bumper on mooring lines for a boat. Interweave 'em end to end, and make a convenient DIY fire escape ladder. Or a tow rope.

Wow. That was a fun trip.
