I can not be the only one having issues with the formatting of the control cards.

I do not have MS Word on my Mac, or access to it, so cards open in Google Docs as my best option.

The card formatting blows apart , turning a two page doc into a 3 or 4 page one that need to be edited to print. Even then, parts are missing.

Getting very frustrated with what should be a simple job.

And I have similar problems with the cue sheets.

I am running an Apple IMAC and have similar issues with control cards. I have not found a solution.

You could try http://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/
Or the claim is this is also free https://office.live.com/start/default.aspx

If the cards do not need to be edited exporting them as a pdf seems like a good option for people using Mac and Linux.

RUSA offers an user editable PDF control card template. Not at all platform or app dependent.

For my perm cards, I create them in Word, because that's what I have, but then I turn them into a PDF, and save them and transmit them that way.

For cue sheets, I store them up on the cloud (Google Drive, in my case) in Google format. Google formatted docs can be downloaded in a variety of formats, although that doesn't always guarantee perfect success.

Both Libre Office and Apache Open Office have Mac versions.
I use the former (on Linux), and it works fine for making minor tweaks to cards and cue sheets so that they print in a usable form.

I also use Macs exclusively and yes, Google Drive (or Docs) makes a mess of things, so I finally got the freebie OpenOffice mentioned below. Much better.

Otherwise, I use Adobe InDesign, which is THE layout tool for graphic designers.

Have you tried using the (free) Office Online version of Word? https://www.office.com/

The Office Online apps don't have full feature/fidelity parity with the desktop applications, but they're usually good enough.

I tried loading, editing, formatting, and printing a brevet card in Office Online ( www.office.com  ) and it seems to work well. It preserves the formatting and lets you edit the card.
