Hi All,

Here’s our first 2025 Voler kit ordering links- see below.

For this initial order, there will be three components:

1. Hi Viz orange + blue jerseys, bottoms,  and various accessories.

2.  Hi Viz orange reflective vests.

3.  Hi Viz pink reflective vests.

The ordering deadline for all three of the above is March 9 and items will be shipped  on or near April 17.  If you order items from more than one of these 3 components, shipping costs will be combined.

We need a combined total of 30 reflective vests to be purchased, between the two color schemes (orange and pink) or the reflective vest part of this order will not be processed. However, there is not a minimum number of items required for the other part of this order (#1 above).

Please note the difference between the regular orange wind vest (without reflective tape) on the orange kit menu, and the orange reflective vest on the stand alone orange reflective vest menu.

It’s probable that we will not be doing another orange or pink REFLECTIVE vest order until 2027- and whether or not we do a yellow reflective vest order next year has not yet been determined.

In regard to REFLECTIVE vest sizing, it appears that a slight majority of club members who have used these vests over the past couple of years believe the sizing is the same as for the non reflective vests. However, at least a few club members believe the REFLECTIVE vest sizing is a bit small as compared to other Voler items. As such, some of you might want to consider sizing up.

Please also note that the Flyby wind jacket is primarily a casual wear jacket. The Flyby has a hood (without a drawstring), but overall it is not as good as the regular wind jacket for serious cycling.

If anyone needs reflectives sooner, I have some vests and jackets for sale:

1)  2024 Voler Seattle Randonneurs pink reflective vest size mens XL. Same (I think) as 2025, pink with white 2-way zipper, 3 rear pockets, blue trim and lettering. Excellent used condition, only flaw is a 2mm dot on the right rear pocket (pen?).  $50

2)  2023 L2S Paris-Brest-Paris yellow reflective vest size mens XL. New in sealed unopened package. I have an identical 2019 that I can use for pics/measurements if needed.  $40

3)  2017 Specialized Deflect Reflect Hybrid Jacket size mens Medium (between current Voler L and XL). The entire jacket is made of reflective material with orange trim. Sleeves zip off to make vest. Zippered pockets on each side and one in rear. It was marketed as a rain jacket but I never used it so I can’t attest to it’s water-proofness. Like new condition  $150

And a few that have reflective trim but don't meet RUSA reflective standards:

4)  Gore Shake-dry black jacket, mens size EU XL/USA L. One small rear zippered pocket, reflective logo/lettering on forearms and rear. Like new condition  $150

5)  2019 Showers Pass elite rain jacket, Goldenrod color, mens size M. chest and rear zippered pockets, rear vent and pit zips, reflective trim. Excellent used condition $100

6)  2019 Showers Pass convertible rain pants, black mens size L. Artex fabric, ankle zippers and velcro, legs zip off below knee, reflective trim. Includes suspenders that were sold separately.  Like new condition $90

Doug.  I am interested in the shakedry.  Please message me off the list if the item is still available.

About Shakedry sizing: My jacket is marked EU XL / USA XL. No idea if Doug's XL/L is a typo or the sizing has changed. The fit is snug.

Gore's successor to Shakedry is Spinshift. REI has them. Looks very nice. The material is slightly stiffer than Shakedry.

I have a different opinion about the Flyby jacket. I asked to have this added to the options when it was introduced a few years ago. I wanted a soft shell that offered more wind and wet protection than the Wind Jacket and I find that the Flyby does that. They use the same fabrics, with the Flyby using the solid fabric front, back (vented) and sleeves with narrow mesh side panels, while the Wind Jacket has the mesh back as well as a mesh panel the length of the sleeves. The Flyby hood is lined (same fabric as the body) and fits very comfortably under my helmet with no obstruction to vision. The high collar seals out wind with or without using the hood. I tuck the hood inside the jacket when not using it. It is sized looser than the wind jacket and has less stretch because of the solid, rather than mesh, back. I wear a large Wind Jacket/Vest and use a medium Flyby to get a close “aero” fit. At 6’ tall, the body and arm length are still good in riding position. To check fit I ordered a production Flyby (medium). Voler offers free returns and easy refunds, and is totally OK with doing this to confirm sizing. Finally, I treat my Voler Wind shells with Nikwax Softshell Proof. Does not make them totally waterproof but water does just roll off for hours, even on the mesh fabric. I started using Nikwax when I lived in Eugene and spent many hours riding in rain and mud. Much prefer it to a heavier hard shell jacket.

Yes - there will be a pink order this spring with an early July delivery date.

Watch for ordering details in May.
