Greetings 1000k, 600k, 400k riders!
Thank you for your interest in the Olympic-St Helens 1000k/600k/400k! We have had many people chip in to make this a fun and safe ride. Thanks to our preriders (Rick Blacker, Vincent Muoneke, John Kramer) for helping me get all the cues all figured out and all those darn hills checked...yes steep hard hills that are character builders:-) Also thanks to Kole Kanter for helping with the cue sheet! And thanks to everone else for stepping up to volunteer for this ride.
Attached are control cue sheets (in Excel). However, please just use this still as a reference. We will have printed FINAL cue sheets at the ride checkin with your brevet control cards.
The website also has the TCX and GPX file to download to your GPS.
Also, we will have a precheckin available for those that arrive early on Thursday 6/16 between 16:00-18:00 at the Extended Stay America. Regular checkin is Friday 6/17 starting at 04:15.
Online preregistration has ended and if you are interested please come sign up at the precheckin on Thursday!
Two separate drop bags will be taken to Port Angeles and EcoPark. If you don't have a room checked out at Extended Stay, (or car to leave gear in) you can leave a third dropbag at the checkin if needed for when 1000k riders pass through.
EcoPark is a untimed staff control for 1000k riders and not really an overnight. It is located 2.7 miles before the Hoffstadt Info Control (turnaround point on Hwy 504). 1000k riders, feel free to send your sleeping bag with your EcoPark drop bag to have a place to sleep on possibly warm floor space or bed (whichever is available).
Plan on primitive conditions on this course on either the 600k/400k or 1000k. There is no service after 18:00 from Clallam Bay to Port Angeles (about 100k) so plan ahead. There are also a lot of steep climbs along Hwy 112 and the Little River 3 mile climb a few miles before you get Port Angeles. So stuff your jersey pockets at Clallam Bay so you are well fed for the hills!
400k and 600/400k Riders - There will not be a control at EcoPark for the 400k on Sunday 6/19. Instead we will possibly have have staff up at the Hoffstadt visitor center, but if they are not there, there will be an info control. The Hoffstadt visitor center also has a cafeteria that should be open after 08:00.
Also, there might be limited services open from Packwood to Finish,(last 140k) so plan accordingly.
Thanks for all your interest in this ride and we hope you all will enjoy the course!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
See you all tomorrow evening!
