Hi Carbon Neutral Neighbors,

We're pulling back on regular meetings until we've got some more energy to devote to organizing. However, life still goes on in Carbon Neutral Seattle!
See the attached message about the Stockholm Environment Institute briefing on May 23.

Note also that on Monday, May 2 at 5pm you can meet climate change diplomats from 12 countries at the Phinney Neighborhood Center. You need to rsvp for this free event.

Major upcoming community events include: Green Festival is May 21-22, Pacific Northwest Carbon Pricing Conference at UW May 21, Shoreline Solar Festival July 16, Moving Planet 350 is Sept 24.

We'll try to keep you posted, mostly on Faceboook at 350 Washington, Transition Seattle, and SCALLOPS. Thanks!

Hey folks,

Hope you are doing well – and ready for spring.

Mike asked me to send a quick update on the carbon neutral work.  I know we’ve been in hibernation for too long, but are getting ready to re-emerge!

Mike posted a brief update on his blog today, following a letter that the Council sent to Jill Simmons last week.  The letter requested OSE to return to the Council by May 9 with the final version of the Stockholm Environment Institute technical analysis.  The Council will be briefed on that report at their Monday morning briefing on May 23 (9:30am, Council Chambers) – you’re welcome to attend or watch online.

The letter also requested OSE deliver a draft resolution for the city to adopt the high-level targets from the technical work, and to lay out a timeline and deliverables for the community engagement process around the update of the Climate Action Plan.  We look forward to your feedback on these details in May.

As always, let me know if you have any questions and feel free to share with others in your groups.  Looking forward to reengaging this spring!

Esther

PS - If you haven’t met Josh in our Office yet, drop by and say hi.  He’s going to be helping with some of this work moving forward.
