I have one on the eastside, if you want to come over some time and try it out.  From my experience, the big issue today is software and parameter tuning.  The sample parts from MakerBot print amazing.  Reportedly those were done in ReplicatorG, not the MakerWare software, so that’s perhaps a path to higher quality.  As would be getting the 2X so you have water-soluble scaffolding material available for use in your prints.

Subject: Anybody with a Makerbot Replicator 2 in Seattle are willing to print a couple of evaluation parts in PLA?

I am looking to evaluate MakerBot Replicator 2 before I jump in. I was hoping to have a local user print a couple of small parts in PLA so I could

evaluate the accuracy for +/- tolerances? Anybody in the local Seattle are willing to print a couple evaluation parts for me?

Mark,

I live in Sammamish so not far from you. I did look at your site and was even more interested to understand what machining services you would have available.
I can spit the STL out of my AutoDesk Inventor and given you are a machinist you will understand what I am after, ideally I should be able to evaluate fits whether Class I through V. I have a small business which I design fly reels and produce, I do all the design my self and I am trying to knock down the prototype to production time/cost. If I am able to bring and STL along with a DWG with my spec tolerances it would be worth while to get identify how close the replicator 2 can get with PLA.
