I just wanted to give you a heads up, not sure if anyone knows yet..

Dremel recently released a new 3D printer, available at Home Depot for $999.

I'm also wondering if anyone in the Seattle area might have a Formlabs printer...  know of any?

I've met at least one person in seattle that was in on the initial form labs kick starter.

I'm not sure if they are on this list however...

I think 3d Hubs for Seattle may have someone listed with one.

P.s. also think that the new Sodo Maker space was talking about getting one.

Cool, thanks.  Hopefully I'll be able to show up at the meeting.  I'll have to look into finding a local Formlabs, I'd like to see how it's print resolution and durability is.  I've got some parts that need long term use on electric guitars, and 3D printing may be the ticket, instead of injection molding.

Hi Wolfe (and all),

I have a Form1+ and would be willing to output a small-ish part or two for you. I have pretty much every color resin, including flexible, but not the castable resin. From experience I'd say the durability is pretty good -- strong and solid, but thin pieces will still break like non-flexible plastics. What parts of the guitars are you making this way? And feel free to ping me offline.

Hi,

I live in Edgewood and have a Form 1+ and two other 3d printers (Makerbot TOM and Ultimaker 2).  I welcome anyone who has any questions regarding the above.  Feel free to contact me offline.  Thanks.

I had a Form 1 from the kickstarter and sold it to get the Pegasus from FSL. The Pegasus is not as polished, but the work envelope is larger. Feel free to ask any questions.

I also have a highly modified Rep 2 and am awaiting delivery of Carl's Clone 1.

Hi Larry-
My name's Mike Leavitt. I was just talking to Matt at Metrix Createspace yesterday with a problem I'm having. He said you might solve it.

I'm hosting a talk event at the Dowtown Seattle Public Library in the main auditorium. The subject is contemporary fine art & 3D printing. Can they merge?, etc.

I need someone to host a printer for a one-shot live demo during the event. I've asked around many places with little luck. I'm not making any money off this event, if anything, losing it just trying to post it around & gather a crowd.

I have very small, 3-4 inch, models ready to print (YodaGandhi is one), tested many times via Shapeways. I can format to any file type, OBJ, DXF, STL, whatever's necessary. The event is about an hour, can run 1.5 hrs. If a printer is brought down about an hour early, maybe a 3-4 inch print could finish in about 2 hours?

The event is April 8, 7p- https://www.facebook.com/events/837476366325208

Info also on my website- http://intuitionkitchenproductions.com/shows/

Of course I would take every opportunity to publicly thank & promote your work at the event. The capacity for the auditorium is over 300. I'm really trying hard to fill the place. Hopefully it would turn out to be a solid format to highlight what you do.

Thank you sincerely for your time, Larry.

Hi Peter,  I am a design student in seattle and I have the Ultimaker 2 as well.  I am having a really difficult time getting my designs to print properly or consistently.  My latest dilemma has something to do with the build plate.  Everything was printing alright on a couple of the files but the build plate started to stop before reaching the top for the print.  I have recalibrated and retested with the UM robot print, which went well.  But when I try to reprint one of the designs that printed well from an earlier print the same problem with the building plate persists.  Would you have any idea what could be the problem?

Mila,

Can you manually jog the build plate through it's entire travel when not printing, or does it get stuck when jogging as well?

Hi Mila,

From what I understand, the build plate usually goes through its calibration at the start of each print.  If you observe the build plate during that process it goes all the way down and then up a little before the build plate heats up and the hot end heats up.  I'm not sure what exactly is happening but I would venture to guess that the problem may exist at the place where the sensors determine where the limits of the build plate heights are to be.  Let me know what you discover. Thanks.
