Is anyone interested in reviving SeaHUG, either virtually or in-person? I'm still in Seattle (and still interested in Haskell). Is anyone else?

I'd like to meet.  In person would be nice, but virtual is fine.

I can do virtual, being on the east coast now. In person would be better though.

I’d be interested. Would be fun to meet in person, remote is ok too.

I’d also be happy to meet up! Would love to see everyone in person, but if a virtual meeting would enable more people to attend, then I’m for it. Maybe if some folks were interested, we could do a smaller, less formal in-person get-together in addition to a bigger virtual meeting?

I live in Edinburgh now but I would be happy to join virtually depending on the day and time. I haven't done much Haskell lately but I have been playing a bit with Clash/FPGA stuff.

I like Richard's suggestion. Let's start with a virtual meeting and then figure out an in person one.

Looks like Brian is GMT, so 8 hours ahead of PST. If we have it early enough on a weekend then maybe he can join?

I'd prefer Sunday over Saturday, but am fine with whatever others want. Would something like this Sunday (Feb 2nd) at noon work for people? (Just to throw something out there. Feel free to propose something else). Or maybe this weekend is too short notice.

Does anyone have anything they want to present or talk about?

This Sunday at noon (PST), or even early afternoon, works for me.

I can't make the 2nd, but the 9th would be okay.

How about meeting on Discord?  I have created a SeaHug Discord server.  https://discord.gg/XJcgDPsB.

Is Sunday Feb 9th at noon on Discord okay for everyone?

Most of the time will probably be spent catching up.

As you may know, I'm a very practical Haskell programmer.  I care about performance.  I can spend a few minutes talking a little bit about how my use of monads in the Mana compiler has evolved over the years.  What I'm doing now is similar to Bluefin without any of the type constraints.  I can also talk about how effects work in the Mana language.  They are primitive, strongly typed, and a complete replacement of monads for handling side-effects.

Hopefully that can be a lead into an open discussion about effectful programming in FP.  Perhaps other people have practical Haskell (or other FP language) experience they would like to share?

This Sunday (Feb 2) or next (Feb 9) works for me!

Feb 9th is fine with me too.

There was already a seahug discord, but it was never really used and is owned by "andgate" (I forget who that was), so I guess it makes sense to make a new one.

Next Sunday works for me too, and yeah effect systems in Mana sounds like a cool starting point :)
See you then
