Just Garden Re launches!

SEATTLE, WA -- Saturday, December 2nd, Just Garden returns.

From 10:30 am – 12:30 pm  at Southside Commons (3518 S. Edmunds St., Seattle, WA 98118),

Just Garden will celebrate a new beginning of building subsidized food gardens for low-income families in their homes and community centers.

Just Garden’s mission is to “build a just food system and a culture of gardening for all people.” From 2010-2016, 1,550 volunteers tallied over 12,300 hours with Just Garden--building over 300 subsidized food gardens for low income families in their homes and community centers. These gardens feed hundreds of people every year.  Put on hiatus due to budget restraints, Just Garden spent half of 2016 and all of 2017 in hibernation mode.

The program, which has a proven model of success found that 77% of garden recipients report continues gardening after the first year; 72% of gardeners report having enough abundance to give food away; and 65% of gardeners say they have expanded their gardens beyond the 3 raised beds.

Just Garden begins again with a focus on re-building a grass-roots foundation. Join a community gathering and celebration of six years of wonderful work and many more to come: Fundraising Presentation and Re-Launch Celebration, Southside Commons 3518 S. Edmunds St., Seattle, WA 98118. Bring your check book, some friends and a dish to share. Wheat free, vegan soup, bread, and children’s activities will be provided.

Bring any seeds or plants you wish to share.

Kids activities will be available.

Please see https://justgarden.brownpapertickets.com/ for tickets and justgarden.org for more information on Just Garden’s work.
