Rarely is it in our power, to right a great wrong; TODAY IT IS!
We need your help as we move forward! For more than five weeks, over 250 farmworkers have been fighting for dignity and respect in the berry fields of Skagit County. It has been an ongoing struggle as the workers organized their demands and started lengthy negotiations with Sakuma Bros. Farms. We are pleased and PROUD to announce that Familias Unidas por la Justicia (Families United for Justice), which consists of over 250 farmworkers and their families, has formed their own organization. Community to Community (C2C) has been honored to stand by these workers, organize and mobilize the community at a regional level as these workers continue to fight for a valid contract.
The solidarity and support given to these local farmworkers and C2C has been overwhelming! Gracias to all of the community supporters that have shown up, written checks, dropped off durable goods, spread the word of how the greater community can support the workers and even donated a truck to keep the President of the worker committee mobile! Wow! In the past 5 weeks, countless supporters have donated to the workers and we have been able to raise enough funding to provide gas cards, food, and financial support to the workers during the work stoppages. A portion of this money has also allowed C2C to focus both resources and staff to this process. Thank you for everything!
Community to Community has provided research, administrative support, training, media and social media coverage and linked the workers to our many national networks and alliances. It has been an honor to have the structural capacity, built over the last 9 years with your help, to strengthen this emerging farmworker movement! At this time, Community to Community is asking for specific help to fund the newest development in this labor dispute: a boycott of Sakuma Bros. Farms berry products. Today, C2C spent $500 printing 1500 informative handouts that have already been distributed throughout Whatcom, Skagit and King County. We are eager to print another 1500 in Spanish, as we are finding many consumers of these products are farmworkers themselves. We need your support as we move forward with this boycott!
You have a unique opportunity to support farmworker families directly AND the work of Community to Community! Consider funding both Familias Unidas por la Justicia and Community to Community as farmworkers lead us towards a sustainable and equitable food system with dignity and respect!

As this struggle continues, it is vital that the workers know they are supported by the community. Please send cards, notes of encouragement and financial support.
