Hello Go Players,
We have four events in mid July, two each on
consecutive weekends. We really need help, so even if you rarely help
promote Go at outreach events, just showing up a couple of hours to give
folks a break who are there all day is helpful. Hopefully, a couple
of these found fun for you to drop by:
* Japan Fair 12-13 JUL -- culturally
fun
* Chinatown-International District
(CID) Celebration 12 JUL -- culturally fun, thar be dragons that visit the
booth
* North Bend Block Party 19 JUL --
enjoy a hike, then teach some Go, live music, good food, beer garden in
front of stage for breaks
* Bon Odori 19-20 JUL -- culturally fun
with taiko, dancing, and more when not teaching Go
Japan Fair is at Bellevue Meydenbauer Center
(11100 NE 6th St, Bellevue, WA 98004) on July 12th-13th. This
slightly bigger event works best with 4-6 Volunteers that can help run the
booth throughout the day (10am-6pm). Set up is easy and indoors
(tables and chairs provided). I have someone who is on point for this
event. Even volunteering a couple of hours is very helpful to give
all-day folks a break. I will be at this event on Sunday.
Chinatown-International District (CID)
Celebration is on July 12th 10am-6pm at the International District (Hing
Hay Park). This event is medium size and also provides the booth,
tables, and chairs. I am looking for 2-4 volunteers for this event
(10am-6pm). I will be at this event.
North Bend Block Party is on 19 JUL
10am-7pm. Bill and Heath are signed up for this event. They
could use a few folks throughout the day for breaks and to teach more
people. This is a beautiful location with lots of nature and festival
activities to enjoy when not at the booth helping out. There's always
Twin Peaks cherry pie at the diner.
Bon Odori is 19-20 JUL 3-8pm. We expect
high attendance at this popular event. There is traditional dancing
in the streets and taiko players. Please help out if you will be in
town either day. The Seattle Buddhist Temple always requests we
participate, and I would be thankful for your help. I am looking for
around 4-6 volunteers that can help teach go to people (most will know
nothing about Go). It is a fun event, and volunteers can take breaks
to enjoy the event also. I will be at this event both days.
Please email me and let me know what events
work best for you and what times you can make it. This is a lot all
at once. We really hope folks are in the mood to enjoy festivals and
get new people excited about Go.
