We will hold our annual members meeting on 22 MAR, Saturday 2:00-3:00pm, at the new SGC location.  We will review programs and events in 2024 and share financial info.  We will also vote on a slate of three directors who will serve a three-year term.  Each year, three of the nine directors' terms expire.

We need 13 voting members (annual or lifetime) as a quorum.  If you cannot make the meeting, you can email man...@seattlego.org to register a proxy for yourself (notification goes to the secretary for recording).  We appreciate your naming proxies to ensure we have quorum for the meeting.

This year, we are grateful that Peter Kron, Chris Wells, and John Hogan (all long-serving directors) volunteered to be directors again, and they will be on the slate of candidates.

Members can nominate other candidates if seven or more members nominate someone prior to 12 MAR.  This gives the board time to approve the candidates and possibly to work with folks to have a slate of three candidates for much simpler voting at the meeting.  If seven voting members want to nominate a candidate, please send mail to man...@seattlego.org prior to 12 MAR.

Cheers,
Bill

Hi, very sorry for the extra mail this week.  Quick reminder we have a 9d top world Korean pro giving a workshop Sat and Sun, 10am-5pm.

I'm updating the annual meeting announcement because Peter wanted to step down in lieu of Heath Henning being nominated to the SGC board.  Heath has been a huge volunteer and helping SGC for several year now.  Peter continues to volunteer a lot at outreach events and school clubs.

About Heath:
Heath learned about Go 13 years ago while living in Iowa (from Hikaru no Go), with his primary opponents being the people he was teaching at a very small club he started.  He learned from Nick Sibicky's and Andrew Jackson's YouTube channels.  A decade ago, he moved to Seattle for work and the Go Center, and when he came nine months earlier than his family for work, he got an apodment next to SGC and found his second family.

Heath has volunteered a ton for SGC.  He's had keys a long time and opened many times to help Kyle.  He has been a boon to Kyle and uses his van to help load in and out of big events when we need tables, chairs, Go equipment, etc.  Heath volunteers possibly more than anyone at many events and loves teaching Go, including taking Myungwan Kim's Teach the Teachers class and incorporating a new style to how we teach.  Heath has helped Drew by keeping the Wed classes going through the summer, and he now runs Kids Time too.  Heath runs a popular meetup at his office once a month to teach Go to coworkers.

Heath's passion to teach and promote Go is very clear, along with designing and manufacturing equipment for teaching and donating same to SGC.

Cheers,
bill
