Last Saturday the usual contingent of devotees went up to Seattle’s U District with over 120 Burritos tightly packed in the blue Igloo heat retainer on wheels.
We talked to Ishan, a native of Saudi Arabia and a student of University of Washington. He asked whether this book is religious. We mentioned that it was a cultural representation of vedic society. He took the book and searched his pockets for $5 and gave us. We gave him a burrito and he said no. After 15 minutes he came back and claimed his burrito. One devotee asked "why did you get this book?" He said one has to discover his own journey....very profound words from a ~22 year old.
A boy and girl stopped by. When we talked about the Bhagavad Gita they said they wanted it but can only give $1 donation. We gave him the book and also a free burrito
An Indian boy stopped by on his bicycle and listened to our music. He ate a burrito and when a book distributor went by, he took a BG
One of the devotee did the package – three books to one individual.
Four western boys passed by. When the book distributor stopped them three of them stayed away. One of them stopped and listened to BG. The distributor asked him to follow along as he taught the mantra. While leaving he said “Hare Krishna” just as a devotee would!
“I do not have cash” said one girl. We do not take cash said the devotee and pulled out phone mounted Square device to collect lakshmi
One of the devotees gave a good luck mantra card to the lady who sells cherries on Issaquah pine lake road - now she gives devotees a discount
