Hello,

I would like to organize a protest/flyer event at the big banks around
the U District. There is a BofA, Wells Fargo and Chase all near each
other.

Anyone interested?

I would like to, but I am just to far away from Seattle. Olympia, or Tacoma maybe, depending on timing. I am only 30 miles south of Olympia, near Centralia/Chehalis. Lewis county is still so right wing that they love the banks, and support the war. There is nothing happening here but trying to talk to a bunch of rednecks. I'm tired of getting beat up!
Good luck!

I'm willing to do anything.  I think there are only about 6 people on "the list" though, unfortunately..

Sweet!  I must have been looking at the number of people on the anfw website.

Anyway, yes, I would be interested in organizing protests in the U District.  I've put stickers on ATMs and posted flyers on street poles (even wrapped packaging tape all the way around the pole), but they all get taken down.

So, do you want me to pick a date, then you can email the list, or what do you need me to do?

Well, we are launching sit-ins early next week. You can organize
whatever you want around that -- do you want to join us for that or a
regular rally? Either way, you can pick a date for a planning meeting
and we can go to the list.

sit-ins will be at foroureconomy.org, you can see the beginning of the
site here: http://freshaircleanpolitics.net/mode/

Id love to take part in anything you already have going on.  Maybe ill do a few things before I organize one of my own.

Can you add me to your list and let me know about the stuff coming up next week?

Thanks!

yes, we'll make an announcement about it. if we have you on the ground
helping to mobilize people in seattle, that would be great.

OK, so now I'm confused.

Are you in Seattle, or do you work/volunteer for ANWF?

When you say "we're having sit-ins" are you talking about ones already organized in Seattle, or nationally?

Thanks,

Brian

we're talking nationally. i am organizing protests for anwf
nationally. we're going to make a call for sit-ins very soon, but at
the local level. it would be great to have seattle as one of the
cities participating.

we should recontact organizers who have organized in seattle.

in washington state, the only stuff happening on the organizing front
thus far is dianne in bellingham is organizing a teach-in with simon
johnson for may 11 and there is another teach-in in seattle with simon
johnson.

I would love to be an organizer in Seattle.

I've never organized any events, though, so I might need a few pointers.  ; )

When is the teach-in in Seattle? ...or does it still need to be organized?

Also, forgive me for being a newbie, but what exactly is a sit-in?

If you can give me some pointers, to get started with organizing something, I will be happy to do so.

Thanks for your help!

we will definitely have some pointers when we announce sit-ins (when
you refuse to move inside the lobby of a bank), picket, rallies, etc.
in the meantime, maybe you can download some flyers and start posting
them or giving them out. they're under take action.
