SQL Server Database Engineer
SIQCDP
supporting, and troubleshooting our database infrastructure in a
collaborative team environment working with software engineers and
operational DBAs.
Responsibilities:
* Perform logical and physical design of databases as part of the
development process.
* Create and maintain database schema objects such as tables, indexes,
views, constraints and stored procedures using MS SQL Server Transact SQL
(T-SQL)
* Perform root cause analysis for all problems and recommend solutions to
minimize future incidents.
* Work with operational Architects, DBAs, Storage Engineers and
Infrastructure teams to recommend hardware configurations for new DB
systems.
* Analyze and implement optimizations for database performance tuning.
* Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Replication.
* Promote system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing
system standards and operational best practices.
* Provide technical leadership in design and implementation of MS SQL
Server databases.
* Help plan feature upgrades, and plan and participate in scheduled
off-hours service outage upgrades.
* Document procedures for installation and testing of database upgrades
and configuration
* Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the
company
* Follow strong configuration management practices with deploy-able
database code.
* Implement and enforce operational database security guidelines and
procedures.
* Defines technical specifications based upon business requirements
* Understands technologies in use within Corbis
* Determines program/project design, develops resource requirements, and
prepares work estimate
* Advises clients on maximizing the capabilities of supporting system
processes
* Prepare system documentation
Contacts:
This position works closely with Corbis software engineers, operational
DBAs and other infrastructure teams as well as with the Business
Intelligence team and occasional contact with business groups.
Requirements:
* Minimum Two-year degree in a technology related field
* At least five years of overall software industry experience with at
least two years experience with MS SQL Server writing T-SQL
* OLTP
* Experience with SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000
* Strong analytical skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
