I've got a friend coming to town who is very into Japanese culture.
Can someone give me a starting point for finding it in the Seattle
area? I'm talking about art exhibits (well, OK, I know where to find
those), and specialty/curio shops to purchase Japanese artifacts.

Any help is appreciated.

Daniel,
She's coming to the right place for Japanese art as we have a wealth of
Japanese art and antiques. Many people don't know this, but Seattle had the
largest Japanese population outside Tokyo around the turn of the century.
First of all pick up a copy of Art Guide Northwest at the First Avenue
entrance of the Seattle Art Museum or any of the major galleries around the
museum or in Pioneer Square. It contains a complete list of the galleries and
museums in full color, and it is free. Many of my advertisers feature
Japanese art and antiques. I can suggest: Azuma Art Gallery, Honeychurch
Antiques, Kagedo, the Crane Gallery, Marvel on Madison, Chidori, Asian
Furnishings, Asian Style & Ho Park Gallery (I'm sure I left out a few). You
might also check on the Wing Luke Museum to see what their current exhibit is.
