We had breakfast at the Space Needle this morning. We were seated in the
Emerald Suite section, and I thought that was a mistake, but the
gentleman said that they often seat breakfast guests there. One drawback
with that area is that you don't have the unobstructed view of the other
dining area.

We had a basic egg breakfast, accompanied by small cinnamon dusted
scones, and a small fruit plate. The eggs also came with bacon, and
seasoned breakfast potatoes, which were delicious. Each breakfast was
$10.95.

The service was attentive and timely. The environment was clean and well
kept. The music overhead was a bit loud, but my opinion.

It was a nice treat to visit a place I look at all the time, and I will
look forward to going again the future.

Glad you mentioned it:

Does there exist a "view restaurant" that does not saturate its dining area
with loud pop-Muzak? Based on an exhaustive survey (one brunch at each of
Ray's and Pescatore in the last year), the flaw seems endemic to the breed.

All I ask is to be left in peace with my eggs and the Olympics.

It's as if the expectation is that you'll chomp those eggs to the thump of the
disco beat. Beat. Beat. Beat.

Palisades under the bluff in Magnolia. R.

The world headquarters for the Muzak company is located in Fremont, center
of the Universe. I am not making this up. The worker bees have to listen
to programed muzak all day long. It gets louder & "peppier" after lunch.
Upper level employees have glassed in soundproof offices where they can
change the muzak channel and adjust the volume. There are different
styles of music designed to do different things for/to the customer.
Perhaps the Space Needle had the "eat it and beat it" version on when they
should have been playing the "we are a classy establishment so buy
appetizers and drinks" version. Since customers don't order many
appetizers and drinks at breakfast, they may have been playing eat it and
beat it music to maximize their table space. All of the above is purely
speculative, of course.

Hmmm, unless they've relocated, I know for a fact that the world
headquarters for Muzak is in Salt Lake City, Utah. I used to live a few
blocks from their offices.

Sorry Surrealist. Wrong again. Muzak was started here.

Opps. I was wrong too. I called the company & their originated in New
York. They've also moved out of the Fremont location so I was wrong on
both count. They did have "E-Z 'lisning" on their phones.

Sorry Surrealist.

So then, they HAVE relocated. Although I can't imagine why. SLC is a
very appropriate place for them. Thanks for the info.

Silly disagreement, but I can't resist jumping in here.

Muzak's headquarters are located at:
2901 Third Ave.
Suite 400
Seattle 98121

They even have a web page where you can verify this.
http://www.muzak.com/muzak.html

Re: Salt Lake City. They do list one of their affiliate offices there.
But then, there are about 175 of those across the country.
