Just went to Still Life in Fremont and discovered that the cafeteria line
has gone away, replaced by the waitstaff seating you at tables and taking
your order. But it was a delicious breakfast.

Jeez, that's one of those places I'd hoped would always stay exactly like
it was. When I spent some years living in Silicon Valley (a vast suburban
cultural wasteland in many ways) I missed Still Life intensely. - GWE

I think it might just be a Sunday deal.

Unfortunately, it isn't. They made the change about 2 months ago. We
used to make Still Life our standard informal "Sunday Night Out"
place, but the changes turned us off. Still have good food and very
pleasant staff -- but they're not trained waiters (or they weren't
when we were there.)

Good news, however, -- the Still Life in the U district (next to the
Grand Illusion) is still in the class Still Life style. So we've
moved our patronage over there.

"Just out of curiosity,
what if that doesn't
work?"
"I don't know, but for
sure we're gonna blame
you."

Just for the record, it looks like the Still Life in the u-dist. has
possibly changed hands. It is now called "Star Lite and the Oasis" or
something to that effect. Looks to be the same (or very similar)
menu, etc.
