First, it was available at the Dankens storefront in Seattle's
University district, near the corner of University and 45th. They had
a lot of weird and unpleasant flavors that came and went, but usually
had their incredible chocolate decadence.
Then the storefront closed, but small cartons became available in
grocery stores, or at least in Larry's Markets. And I could usually
find their chocolate decadence.
Then the cartons disappeared, and I read somewhere that the people at
Dankens were making a line of ice cream for (I think) Dreyer's. I
watched for anything like Danken's Chocolate Decadence to appear in a
Dreyer's carton, but never saw anything like it.
Danken's Chocolate Decadence was not only the best chocolate ice cream
ever, it was also just different than other chocolate ice creams.
Are the people behind Dankens still making ice cream?
If not, can the recipe be made public so that maybe someday someone
else will make it?
