Dear parents,

After two years of coordinating the kids program at SSA, I have decided it's time for me to focus on other areas of my life. I am writing to see if a parent would be interested in helping coordinate the program. It is a wonderful way to give back to this community, which is run by volunteers and offers quality classes for very low rates, but it can't thrive without support. Please consider the position, here are the requirements:
  • Call Meetings/Teacher Training Sessions: approximately one per quarter, or as needed. Review first aid and liability with instructors.
  • Schedule Orientations and/or Demonstrations: Beginning of school year (mid-September) and New Year (mid-January) are good times of the year. Consider going to local middle schools to give demonstrations on site.
  • Schedules make sure teachers are testing students regularly. If there are any class schedule changes, pass info to our web producer for posting and to the facilities manager for adding to schedule.
  • Coordinates Teacher Bios/Photos for Website (pass to web producer)
  • Point of contact for Board and Yudansha (attend board meetings)
  • Responds to public inquiries.
  • Cover duties of Administrator as needed (make fliers, organize attendance and application books, update Google Group, etc)
I probably spend 20-30 minutes a week attending to these things (outside of any teaching or assisting) on average. It was a bit more in the beginning, setting up or getting used to where things are, how things work. The majority is simply communicating with teachers and parents.

I am stepping down at the end of this month and am available for transitional support. Please let me know if you are interested.

Best wishes,
Jenna
