Hi SRCS,
I bought a used Compaq SLT 286 in 1995, and used it for several years, then moved on to modern stuff and set it aside. I booted it up 2 years ago and all programs worked just fine, but when I tried to again recently, it would not boot up - I read that this is caused by the soldered-in battery dying?

I'm not tech savvy, but it's awfully cool and needs a new home, if a local retro-enthusiast would be interested, so I thought I'd post a note here just to see.

The insulation on the coiled cords has become brittle and is beginning to chip off. Other than that, it is in very good shape. I have some software and documentation, too.

Thanks for reading, and any advice would be appreciated.

According to Wikipedia this model was notable when new for its great battery life... probably not saying much by modern standards, but it'd still be neat to be able to retrocompute portably for more than a few minutes at a time!  :¬)  If I weren't overcommitted on projects already, I'd leap on this, but I am and I can’t.  Anybody else feel confident in fixing it up for the original poster?
