REGARDING: Call for Nominees for District 22 Secretary Elections
A few people have asked me for a list of the duties of the District Secretary. According to the ILCA-NA website the duties and responsibilities are as follows.
DISTRICT SECRETARY DUTIES
- • Use the provided district email list (names, emails, addresses, numbers, etc.) to regularly stay in touch with members / promote regattas (local and abroad).
- • Contribute reports for the quarterly class magazine: The ILCA Sailor. These reports include regatta write ups and pictures of the action from your district. Here's the schedule of when reports are needed in order to publish the quarterly class magazine on time (end of each month listed below).
January 5th (Winter Issue)
April 5th (Spring Issue)
July 5th (Summer Issue)
October 5th (Fall Issue)
Other responsibilities of a district secretary.
- Schedule a district championship (part of the ILCA-NA Grand Prix), regattas, clinics, and socials with local yacht clubs/sailing venues.
- Use the ILCA-NA Regatta Guidelines and Grand Prix Rules when organizing regattas. Review these documents online.
- NOT a requirement, but highly recommended: establish and maintain an online website or social media account, so as to post event details, regatta write-ups and pictures.

District 22 Secretary, Mark Ross, is looking to step down. Thank you Mark for your service to the class!
According to the ILCA-NA Bylaws (see Section 5.7) a new district secretary will be elected by the members in good standing of ILCA-NA District 22 (check your membership status / renew your membership).The election process begins with this call for nominees!
D22 Secretary Election Schedule:
May 13 - 19: Call for nominees (Note: if only one nominee is received, that individual will be named the new D22 Secretary.)
May 21 - 27: Email Campaigns
May 29 - 31: Online D22 Election
