What I want to do - allow users to buy 'funds' to use at a later date
to purchase gifts. I have the capability online and wondering the
best way to translate into an app.
You are allowed to use iTunes purchases if you are allowing goods/
services to be available immediately. But if you add funds and they
are available later, it may be disallowed, at least that's what I'm
reading into the terms. Apparently an app was denied who was trying
to do this.
Secondary options seem like:
1) direct them to website to add funds (fearing losing them)
2) revise in-app itunes purchase so they are sending an item
immediately (fearing loss of flow and consistency from website)
2) create in-app mobile page to enter info then guide them back to
app
Can anyone give any insight or have any suggestions or ways to find
out?
TOS (partial)
Certain Products may include functionality that enables you to
purchase additional services, or licences to additional functionality
or content for use within the Product ("In App Purchases"). In App
Purchases that are consumed during the use of the Product (e.g.,
virtual ammunition) cannot be transferred among devices; can only be
downloaded once; and after being downloaded, they cannot be replaced.
Once a consumable In App Purchase is purchased and received by you,
iTunes' liability to you in the event of any loss or destruction of,
or damage to, such In App Purchase shall be as set forth in clause 28
hereof. All In App Purchases are deemed Products, and In App Purchases
made within Third Party Products are deemed Third Party Products, and
treated as such, for purposes of these terms and conditions.
In App Purchase provides a general mechanism for creating products,
leaving the specifics of how your products are implemented up to you.
However, there are few important guidelines to keep in mind as you
design your application:
■ You must deliver a digital good or service within your application.
Do not use In App Purchase to sell real-world goods and services.
■ You may not offer items that represent intermediary currency because
it is important that users know the specific good or service they are
buying.
■ Items you offer for purchase may not contain, or relate to,
pornography, hate speech, defamation, or gambling (simulated gambling
is acceptable).
