Does anyone here have experience integrating Ink's Story API with Unity? I'm using it for a project involving storylets but it looks like I'll have to do all my storylet sorting, choosing, and displaying in either Unity or Ink. I was hoping for I was hoping for a more middle-of-the-road approach and go back and forth between the two, that way I could intersperse other game elements from Unity between storylets handled by Ink. At this point I need to choose whether or not to do all my sorting/choosing/displaying logic within Ink or Unity, and I'm worried if I choose wrong then it'll mean a lot of wasted effort in the long run. Any advice?

Unfortunately, I don't know much about either. My suggestion would be to try the intfiction.org forums for this question. You could also try the Ink forums since someone there must have done Unity integration before.

Sorry I can't be more help.

The best general advice I can think of would be to play to the strengths of each system. Ink is likely to have more specific tools for storylet handling, so it may make the most sense to build all the logic in there if you have to pick one.

Thanks for the direction, Greg - I joined the inkle discord and started chatting with folks about the system. I'll share a WIP either here or in person once it's in a playable state.

There is some discussion of using Ink in Unity in the Friday NarraScope talk IF.then(): Teaching Programming Concepts Using Interactive Fiction. The video of the talk will be posted after the fact on https://www.twitch.tv/narrascope.
