Anyone familiar with the current state of the art for solar shingles?

I have been thinking about Solar Shingles for some time, but not so much that I want to give Elon Musk my business.  However, it fairly recently looks like quite a few more players have entered the market... One called Luna caught my eye as being a potential candidate.

Is anyone not named Tesla installing solar shingles around Seattle these days?  Because of my wife's preferences, shingles are my best hope: She very much does *not* want panels.

My roof is currently composite shingles on a dutch colonial style house, and it is about 20 years into it's 30 year rating.

...or maybe solar panels that don't have that solar panel look?

I did my own 4800w system 5 years ago and have some black backing on black frame panels from Itek before they went out of business (got WA solar source credit though) and I think they look better than the others out there but you really can’t seem my roof like a Dutch colonial roof would be.  There are also some nicer looking mounting systems that hide the racking gaps better than others.  I also think panels look more compatible with metal standing seem roofs.

I think you would be taking on a huge amount of risk as an early adopter of solar roof panels. I have heard of many nightmares with the Tesla tiles. Making hundreds or thousands of electrical connections with thermal expansion and water especially in our climate seems really hard to guarantee.  Adding the probability of leaks to just ensuring power generation is another level of risk. Also, so many of the domestic solar companies are long out of business so the 20 year guarantee is usually worthless (like mine).

What if you just do black frame panels on the top shallow slope roof areas our your roof so you cannot see much panel?
