Hello! It's been far too long since I've sent you all a message. My calendar is not as up to date as I'd like, but some of these events just won't wait!

First, we are so lucky to have LOTS of permaculture events coming up!
January 28, 2010, What on Earth is Permaculture? (FREE! event in Tacoma)
February - September, 2010, Tacoma's First Permaculture Design Course (Weekends)
February 12 - 28, Pacific Northwest Permaculture Design Course (Sahale)
April 3 - June 13, 2010 - Vashon Permaculture Design Course (Weekends)
Even the Bellevue Home Show had talks on permaculture this last weekend!
See also Seattle's Permaculture/Sustainability Community Group.

If you can't attend a full permaculture design course just yet, check out the The Great Re-Skilling Workshops, weekends, March through December in Seattle and Olympia.

Or, if you're still not completely clear what permaculture means, see this elegant definition from Dave Boehnlein, Education Director at Bullock's Permaculture Homestead.

Next, there is a new video about using a rocket mass heater for an earth-sheltered solar greenhouse. Rocket stove technology is amazingly clean-burning and can be made from recycled materials. The latest of many videos from Paul Wheaton and permies.com.

Other events and resources:
February 11, 2010, Sustainable Film Festival in Seattle on local shellfish, organic gardening and water issues.
Too many to list: Seattle Tilth and 21 Acres food growing and farming classes (and don't forget to check your local municipality, too!)
Wildlife education and outings at the Adopt-A-Stream Foundation in Everett.
Ongoing monthly events at EOS Alliance, (EOS = Environmental Outreach and Stewardship).

Good reads: Diana Leafe Christian's EcoVillage Newsletter and SongCroft's Self-Sufficiency Newsletter.

One more fun website I just found today: Cookus Interruptus. "How to cook fresh, local organic whole foods despite life's interruptions."

Which reminds me of Bill the Butcher! A Woodinville shop selling local, organic, grass-fed beef, and sustainably raised pork, chicken and dairy products. Opening soon in Redmond.

Choose your shade of green, learn a new skill or habit, and enjoy some simple pleasures.

Peace,

Jocelyn Campbell
