Hello everyone,

It was a pleasure to see and cook with all of you yesterday.  I went home with a tummy full of guacomole and a cooler full of yummy meals.  Can't wait to eat them!  Thanks again to Mickie for hosting, Melissa and Margaret for coordinating and shopping, Bethany for joining us, and the onceamonth cooking website for making this cooking experience a smoother one!  And, of course, thanks to Melissa's husband for lugging the "Pantry of Pain" around for us!

As the dust settles from our cooking, I wanted to keep an eye on our next cooking experience.  Please find below a doodle of potential next cooking dates in August and September.  Please respond by this coming Monday, July 9th with your preferred dates.  The doodle includes only Sundays.

Our next group will by hosted by Melissa, with a start  time of 12:30.  Our roles will be as follows:
Melissa: Host
Bethany: Costco shopper
Mickie:  Grocery shopper
Margaret: Details/double checking recipes and shopping list
Tina:  Coordinator

In terms of recipes, we discussed doing a more veggie menu next time..  The next mini menu comes out on the 10th, but there is not a veggie only option.  Shall we do the regular veggie meal, and just do dinners?  Thoughts?  I assume that we will do the posted menu for the month that we will be cooking, but we certainly don't have to do it that way... thoughts?  http://onceamonthmom.com/

Also, anyone want to volunteer to go to get big mixing bowls from Costco/Restaurant store/ perhaps buy from Mickie from Pampered Chef (if they have something like that)?

Things to do/Timeline:
Everyone:  Fill out doodle for preferred dates and email me thoughts on onceamonth menu preferences by July 9th
Melissa:  Please add Bethany to group list

July 9th:  Cooking date and menu type decided
Two weeks-ish prior to cooking date:  Margaret to work her magic on the shopping list/recipes and perhaps let us know what extra supplies we should purchase and/or bring from home
One week ahead:  Costco shopping
Two days before (or so): Grocery shopping

Thanks, and please let me know any thoughts or concerns.  Just to be sure, someone email me back to make sure that you are getting these emails (I am still a bit wary from previously....)

Sincerely,
Tina

Ok, I sent Bethany an invitation and made everyone group owners, so
let me know if there are any additional issues with the google group.

I just looked at the onceamonth website and it doesn't look like we
can choose to only do dinners from the larger list, which would sort
of negate the benefits of using their template. Am I mistaken? I
guess we could still download the list and then take things off of it.

I will volunteer to get some bowls since I'm not shopping this month.

Hello,

Thanks everyone for voting!  The clear winner is 8/26;  this is the only day that everyone can make it.  So, it is set:  the next cooking group will be on 8/26 at 12:30 pm at Melissa's house.

Melissa, I think you are right about the layout of the meals on the onceamonth website.   Another option is to check out epicurious.com and the epicurious app for android and iphones. You can choose several recipes, and then make an aggregated shopping list from it.   It does not scale the recipes up, however.

So, the question becomes, how much do people want to do veggie menu?

Please vote for one of the following:
a) do the mini menu on onceamonth  regardless of meatiness
b) do the veggie option onceamonth and potentiallly create a shopping list
c) epicurious or other websites that create a shopping list, but scale ourselves --which allows us flexibility on food, but a bit more overhead to get things scaled, etc.

Please vote by Friday, July 13th. The default will be to stick with the mini-menus regardless of meatiness, so please vote/let us know if you would like to change.

Thanks, Melissa, for offering to get the big mixing bowls!

Sincerely,
Tina
