Hey Everyone!

So I realized it's March, and I'm supposed to host book club in March.
However, we never picked another day if we didn't want to meet
tomorrow on St Patrick's day... AND I don't think we ever even picked
a book.

Which leads me to wondering about book club...

We've had some discussion about days of the week that are best, and a
poll that got limited response (6 out of 15 people responded at
http://www.doodle.com/egy2vfrsdeipt6zq)

This leaves me with a question - who is actually interested in
continuing book club? I know Natasha signed up for a different one,
and I know attendance and actually reading of the book has been
dwindling.

I've been sporadic myself over the last 6 months, but - if there's
interest from a small group I'm up for restarting book club. We could
meet this week (or next) and come with new book suggestions, and start
over in April.

OR - we could just say we're all too busy and unmotivated and should
disband.

Thoughts?

Another possibility and something I'd be interested in:

I have a connection to my local bookstore.  I know the owner personally and she may be willing to host a book club.  I'd have to hash out details with her, but benefits would be:

Same location every time.
She's in the know when it comes to books - she'd probably have some great recommendations.
She could hook us up with copies of the book at (likely) great prices.
We're supporting a locally, female-owned, independent bookstore.
We could still bring wine, food, etc.
It could be open to other people, so the social dynamic could change from month to month.
Assuming it was an open book club, there's a better chance of a higher turnout each month.

Whether or not this group ends up going this route, I'll let the group know if she ends up hosting regular book-related discussions/events.  And open-mic night is there this Thursday if anyone wants to come hang out.  :-)

Also, didn't we pick The Alchemist and The World To Come as some of our next books?  Did I miss a month in there?

Just a reminder that all of our prior conversations are on the group here:

And these are the last books we discussed reading:

Sadly, I won't be able to join this book club going forward. With the way things are going, I just can't comit to it anymore.

I hope to see you girls around though! Have fun and happy reading!

Hello Ladies,
I'm the last one that should weigh in but I love the idea of book-club but I'm not so good about reading the books! I love to read but alas work seems to get in the way of reading, if we restart book-club (which I would like) I will make every effort to read the books! I cannot do Sundays though and that seemed to be where the group was going.
Thanks Nora for starting this discussion and Noelle, your idea about hosting it at the bookstore sounds fun.
Cheers,
Erika

I love this idea as well. In addition, I thought it worked well for folks to bring several suggestions-preferably accompanied by the actual text, to the first mtg so that we could begin to develop a list.

I am game for this idea. I think with how busy all of us are, this is the perfect format.

Hey Ladies -
I can't do weeknights b/c of my work/commute schedule and I have found another book club that meets regularly on Sundays so I am going to defect.  Good luck getting this one back going strong!
