Hi girls,

First off I want to say thank you to our wonderful hostess last night
- amazing food, 7 bottles of wine and a ton of laughs...

We picked our next two books and we are hoping that everyone will
enjoy them.

October: Shadow of the Wind
http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Wind-Carlos-Ruiz-Zafon/dp/1594200106

November: Valley of the Dolls
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0802135196/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000EXDSCA&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1AEA5A94DCVJQKAQ18TC

Hope everyone likes the choices!

We need to make sure that everyone gets added to this list - I think
we are missing: Heather, Diana and Lorna.....anyone else?

good picks. I read Shadow of the Wind this summer and have been recommending it to everyone. Do we have hosts? I would host in Nov.

Rachel offered to host for October (10/21), but we don't have one yet for November (11/18) - so that sounds good.  (I'll be in Thailand and will definitely miss November.)

I'd like to offer to host in December (12/16).  We talked briefly about doing a theme that month, where we all pick a different book and report back to the group about it.  We did this last February with the theme Love and Sex.  It made for a fun meeting.  We were thinking that, since it will be the holidays, we could pick the theme "Family."  I like that this theme can be interpreted in many different ways.  Books we've read, like The Road, The Glass Castle and The Memory Keeper's Daughter all could fit under this theme.

I just realized that I'm going to be in Las Vegas the night of the 21st.  I would still love to host (especially because we'll be discussing one of my favorite books).  Is there any chance we can move the date for October's meeting?  Maybe do it Sunday the 25th? Or the following Wednesday? If not, please just continue without me and I'll host some other time.

I'm going to download the audible.com version of Shadow of the Wind and listen to it on my trip over the next couple of weeks. :)

I'm also not able to attend.  Still in caretaker mode.  Jed's hoping to go back to work tomorrow!  But he will have to wear his brace for probably 6 weeks.  :-(  I get to play cook, maid and chauffeur for awhile still.
